    • Sri Lanka is a little island in the Indian Ocean. It is nicknamed India’s teardrop. Once Sri Lanka was named Ceylon. Most people who live in Sri Lanka are Tamil or Sinhalese.
    • Population:20,064,776
    • Total area of Srilanka:65,610sq km
    • Land:64,740sq km
    • Water:870sq km
  • 3. Where is Sri Lanka located?
    • Sri Lanka is in Asia,
    just below India.
    • Its capital is Colombo.
    Here is Sri Lanka in the map of Asia.

    • The Sri Lankan Flag is
    • sometimes known as the lion
    • flag. It mainly uses the
    • colours red, saffron and green.
    • From the 5 th century BC, the Sri Lankan Flag was a symbol of the Sinhalese people. The green and saffron stripes were added in the flag at 1981.The green stripe was a symbol to the Muslims, the orange stripe was a symbol for the Hindus and the four leaves surrounding the lion was a symbol for the Buddhists.

    • many trees such as
    • cinnamon trees and
    • rubber trees. Sri Lanka
    • was one of the first

    • There are many places in Sri Lanka. Here are some of them-Colombo, Unawatuna, Negomb, The South, Kandy, Galle, Trincomalee, Sigiriya, Matara. Sri Lanka is a hot and tropical country. There are also many temples in Sri Lanka.

    • Sri Lanka’s most favourite sport is cricket. They do many cricket matches with other countries around the world including UK (United Kingdom).
