  1. 1. Or…..The Last Day of Notes for Simpson’s Class
  2. 2.  The Dreaded Carbon Footprint  Carbon emissions from cars and carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels releases water pollution, damage to the Ozone, acid rain, etc.
  3. 3.  “O” no!  The Ozone protects us from dangerous ultraviolet light produced by the sun.  CFCs (a spray can’s byproduct) have been proven to damage the Ozone.  Today there is a hole in the Ozone that is growing.  This could lead to more skin cancer.
  4. 4.  Kyoto Protocol  In the 1990s, industrial countries met in Kyoto, Japan to discuss how to deal with this problem and cut down on green house gas emissions.  Also, many people are concerned with global warming and thus working to prevent this problem.
  5. 5.  Save the whales, trees, etc…  Around the world, people have become concerned with saving the environment.
  6. 6.  But What Can You Do?  People use reusable shopping bags, energy efficient light bulbs and appliances, etc.
  7. 7.  Hybrid Cars  Hybrid and electric cars utilize much cleaner, safer energy than typical cars.  Unfortunately, they are not perfect and are EXPENSIVE.
  8. 8.  Other Energy Sources  Scientists are designing technologies that work using other safe fuel sources such as:  Water  Nuclear energy  Solar energy  Wind energy
