How to Prevent Panic Attacks With Simple Methods

Learning how to prevent panic attacks can be a completely life changing thing to
do. Whether you have experienced one or even many of these types of attacks you
know how frightening they can be and you know what a huge negative impact it
can cause in your life. As they say 'prevention is better than cure' now is the perfect
time to learn how to stop these frightening episodes as quickly as possible.

Firstly it is important to understand that panic attacks are completely natural, they
happened to a lot of people and you certainly aren't ill if you experience one. It is
simply a response triggered by your body very similar to the fight or flight
syndrome that we hear so much about. When your body or more importantly your
brain thinks you are in danger it triggers the fight or flight response which enables
you to stand your ground or run away from danger as quickly as possible. So you
begin to breathe heavily in order to supply your muscles with oxygen and your
heart rate quickens to pump blood around your body. This is Mother Nature’s way
of preparing your body in the face of danger. The problem is that when there is no
real danger our brain heightened response turns into a very frightening panic mode.

However preventing this from happening can be quite straightforward as you
simply need to find the trigger that causes this type of response. Eradicate the
trigger and you are in prevention mode! Obviously if you have a deep rooted fear
that triggers your attack then facing up to it is easier said than done. In these
circumstances working with a therapist on cognitive behavior techniques will be
extremely effective, as they can take you through methods that enable you to
confront negative thought patterns and overcome the symptoms.

If you're panic episodes are not triggered by a deep rooted fear you can prevent
them through many different simple tasks many of which rely on distraction

and drinking some fresh cold water. Other people prevent them by purposefully
controlling their breathing at a normal rate; some people even choose to run 100
yards to completely distract their body and mind from the moment.
Obviously you need to find a method that works for you in that very moment,
however there are some longer-term steps you can take such as ensuring you eat a
very healthy and balanced diet, get plenty of sleep and ensure you exercise
regularly. This ensures your body and mind remain healthy and you keep stress
levels are very low using natural methods.
