HCG Diet Plan: A proven weight loss method Ever since Dr Simeon’s publication on HCG and the very low calories diet, more than a million people have shed millions of kilos following the hcg diet plan. However, it is important to fully understand the plan and its logic before jumping in as there are many frauds and fakes in the market. Phase one As it takes 48 hours for the HCG to be absorbed by the body and begin to work high caloric and high fat foods should be consumed for two days called ‘Loading period’. The fat that is gained is lost almost completely within the next few days of the diet. After 48 hours, a strict eating protocol is started that includes proteins and excludes sugars, starches and most carbohydrates. This phase helps the body mobilize the fat supported by the hcg drops which is helpful when the actual diet regime is started.
  2. 2. Phase two It requires strict caloric intake between 500-700 calories/day. Meals are made up of coffee and tea (without sugar) for breakfast and then two major meals for lunch and dinner. Contrary to what many people think, the hcg diet covers all major forms of food. The diet includes organic meats with high protein content like chicken breast, lean meats, shrimps, lobsters, crabs, egg whites and all white fish such as tilapia and halibut. Vegetables like Lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, celery, mushrooms, green beans, peppers, spinach, chard, cabbage and onions are free to eat with fruits like grapefruit, oranges, apples, strawberries, blueberries, and melons. These meals can be rather substantial and many interesting recipes are available with minimum oil and herbs. This is the phase of hcg diet plan where the bulk of the person’s weight comes off. Phase three This phase is most important and most patient’s favorite. After about 43-60 days into the diet, calories are returned to 1200-1500 per day but patients are advised to avoid dairy and foods containing high fats. Use of hcg drops is stopped and the body slowly continues to shed weight and is no longer dependent on hcg.
