  2. 2. So… What was Wall-E’s Environment made of? <ul><li>How many of you here own a mobile phone? </li></ul><ul><li>How many of you have owned more than one mobile phone </li></ul><ul><li>And… What did you do with the old phone? </li></ul>

LO: To learn about our unsustainable use of Electronics <ul><li>Remember Sustainability means using resources now sensibly so future generations have enough to use. </li></ul><ul><li>On the next task I will show you a Slide for 10 seconds. You then have to copy as much information as you can see down. </li></ul><ul><li>I will repeat it several times </li></ul>

What do we do when we are finished with a mobile phone? <ul><li>Phones are designed to last 2-3 years… </li></ul><ul><li>They are “Designed for the Bin” </li></ul><ul><li>So what options are there when we upgrade to the next iPhone or Blackberry.. </li></ul><ul><li>Maybe this company can help???? </li></ul>

Why do you think Mazuma wants your old phones? <ul><li>They buy them, then remove the expensive metals and sell them on… </li></ul><ul><li>That’ s how they make their money… </li></ul><ul><li>However this process can end up being done in poor countries by untrained and unprotected workers… </li></ul>

I personally think the people who make the electronics should help! <ul><li>I want you to spend 10mins writing a short E-Mail to the owners of Apple, Microsoft, Blackberry or any other technology industry you can think of. </li></ul><ul><li>Explain the problem with disposing of the electronics </li></ul><ul><li>Then give a suggestion on how it could be fixed </li></ul>

To sum up… <ul><li>The bottom on the A4 sheet has a stickman on… </li></ul><ul><li>In the face, put a  if you think you achieved the LO, or a  if you didn't. </li></ul><ul><li>Remember the LO was To learn about our unsustainable use of Electronics. </li></ul><ul><li>The arms represent a Plus Sign (+). On the arms write something that you learnt today </li></ul><ul><li>On the legs which represent a Greater Than sign ( )add something you would like to look at in more detail. </li></ul>
