    4. Housekeeping Issues
      • Make sure that you sign-in for each session.
      • Bathrooms for women are down the hall in the staff room.
      • Bathrooms for the men are the “visitor’s lavatory” right outside the staff room.
      • All workshop materials will be available in an electronic format

      • Recently became more popular in schools.
      • You want to learn about how blogging can increase your communication between school and home.

      • The first evidence of blogging can be found back in 1997.
      • Didn’t become popular until 2003.
      • Developed by people who wanted to post fresh content frequently, but in a simple way.
    9. So… What is Blogging?
      • A process for diary publishing on the Web.
        • Text, photos/images, audio, video
        • Supports follow-up commentary (comments)
      • The activity of creating such content.
      • Mainly social over commercial .

      • Communication
        • I have something to say, and I want to say it.
      • Community
        • I want to share stuff with my friends or other group of individuals
      • Connection
        • I want to use my blog site to build and track connections to my community.

      • Journaling
        • A modern diary for personal uses and for business projects.
      • Comment System
        • Product testimonials similar to Amazon.com’s customer review system
      • Authoring Forum
        • Ever want to write? Are you an aspiring food critic? Movie critic? Poet? Share your words with the world.
    12. Other Popular Uses
      • Photo Albums
        • Also called “photoblogging” where people post pictures for all to see.
      • Announcement System
        • Groups, clubs, schools, etc. can easily post meeting or other like announcements and other comments directly on a website. It’s as easy as sending an email.

      • Simple method to publish content
      • Allows for public comments
      • Search engine friendly
      • No databases or coding required
      • Ability to share headlines with XML (more later)
      • Excellent free software and templates
      • Excellent way to hold yourself up as an expert on any chosen subject.
      • Excellent alternative to email distribution lists.
      • Multiple page creation. Article, journal, archive, etc.
