What is the purpose of a music magazine?<br />To attract particular audience that are part of the social group<br />To advertise products that appear in the magazine<br />The adverts are usually aimed and relevant to the audience that buy the magazine<br />Magazine get money from the big brands that want to advertise their product<br />

  6. 6. Primary research<br />I felt like I needed more primary research<br />Went over to local shop to look for a magazine<br />My plan was to buy Rolling Stone magazine because it is related to my codes and conventions <br />

Planning out my front cover<br />Before creating my front cover I sketched out a quick design of how it will look like<br />I came up with the name ‘Cramp’ for my magazine<br />Title of the magazine on the top<br />Front cover image taking up most of the design's space, also placed behind the title<br />Ear piece used for advertisement or promotion<br />Sell lines on both sides of the page to fill up the empty space <br />Main article sell line placed on the bottom of the design<br />Bar code adds authenticity to the design<br />Medium close up photograph<br />

  10. 10. Software Used<br />I used Photoshop to edit the photograph and InDesign to add the title, sell lines, shapes etc.<br />I’ve taken the photographs with my classmate. On the example below is the actual photograph that I used for the cover. I got rid of the imperfections.<br />I had couple of difficulties with InDesign because this software was new to me.<br />Luckily we had a teacher in our school who helped me out <br />The main issues were things like adding gradients, creating shapes.<br />On the example you can my original picture used<br />

Improvements<br />Everyone looked at each others work and gave feedback<br />I gained mostly positive feedback <br />Things that I could improve were to add a banner, date, price of the magazine, more authentic sell lines that will link with what’s on the contents page<br />Make the text more visible, especially the main article title<br />
