  • 1. Technology and Me A personal timeline of educational technology
  • 2. Overview
    • My name is Jaimie Kennedy.
    • I started school in 1993 in Wahiawa, O’ahu.
    • I graduated from high school in 2007 in Kaimuki, O’ahu.
    • I first went to college at UH Manoa in 2007.
    • When I finish my degree, I hope to become a early elementary teacher.
  • 3. My definition of educational technology … is the technology used to enhance and improve performance through the learning and teaching processes. These may include photographs, videos, and audio, but the most widely used tool is the digital computer.
  • 4. Web sites on ed tech history
    • http://www.eduref.org/Resources/Educational_Technology/History.html
    • http://edweb.sdsu.edu/eet/
    • http://www.docstoc.com/docs/426986/History-of-Educational-Technology
  • 5. Kindergarten technology
    • I believe our teacher had a computer.
    • We were able to watch movies and videos on the TV.
    • We had a radio that we could sing with.
    • Finally, there was a projector to show pictures and stories.
  • 6. High school technology
    • Smartboards! My senior year was the first year we really began using it, so we all learned how to use it together.
    • TVs, computer labs, projectors.
    • DVD players, CD players
  • 7. College technology
    • “ Movie viewing rooms” in Sinclair.
    • LAPTOPS!
    • TVs, computers, radios (CD/DVD)
    • EMAIL and LAULIMA
    • Projectors connected to computers -- PowerPoint presentation lectures
    • Cameras -- post pictures, include in presentations, etc.
    • iPHONEs
  • 8. A vivid technology learning experience
    • Transition from candle light to a common light switch
  • 9. A technology I want to use in my classroom
    • I want each student to have their own “entertainment set.” This means I want to create a set with a little TV, radio, and story/picture organizer. (This would be with early elementary.)
    • SMARTBOARDS!
  • 10. My vision of the classroom of the future
    • We would be like the Magic School Bus and have a transporter to take us wherever we were studying.
  • 11. A challenge for teaching
    • I think students may miss out on the hands-on learning, culture, and the “normalcy” of being a kid.
  • 12. Words of wisdom
    • Who dares to teach must never cease to learn.
    • ~John Cotton Dana
