  • Mention that the WebCenter products have a strong customer base Portals, Content Collaboration critical for - Oracle FMW – WebCenter is the face of FMW, we’ve been investing in building ADF interfaces for all our FMW products, such as BPM, Imaging and Process Management, etc. From an ECM standpoint, instead of building in new content management capabilities into every other middleware product – we are integrating it to work out of the box with the Universal Content Management repository. For example, UCM is the foundation of WebCenter, for BPM we offer a process portal which is WebCenter and UCM so all processes that involve content are added to the central repository. We’re also incorporating other FMW capabilities into Enterprise 2.0 such as Enterprise Manager, BI reports, Secure Enterprise Search, etc. - Oracle Applications – we’ve been building ootb integrations with Siebel, EBS, JDE & PeopleSoft, and others such as Documaker, Primavera, Agile, etc – so you all document attachments go into the central repository. As well as WebCenter integrations with the apps, such as in JDE you can automatically create a WebCenter space. We’re also enabling organizations to bring social and collaborative capabilities directly to users while working within their enterprise applications. - Oracle Fusion Applications – Oracle has a broader strategy around Fusion Applications. This is our set of next generation applications which are all built on Fusion Middleware. Which means the face of these applications leverage ADF and WebCenter, the social capabilities (such as Network at Work in the Human Capital Mgmt application) are woven into the apps using WebCenter and the attachments framework works and imaging in the financial modules are with ECM. Even if you are not a Fusion Applications customer, you can see that this strategy ensures that significant resources are focused on building out the FMW solutions, adding new features and ensuring enterprise scalability. - Blending structured and unstructured information management – We’re seeing more organizations who are consolidating unstructured content silos and back-ending custom and enterprise applications with ECM. While doing that, they see a lot of advantages in how they are managing their structured content today – they have existing back-up and disaster recovery plans, high availability and scalability skills built around these systems – but when it comes to all their unstructured content, it’s largely concentrated in different department silos and requires different teams and processes to manage. Some of these organizations are starting to better align these strategies by managing their structured and unstructured content in the database so that they can centrally manage this information and use the same processes to manage both. - Finally, while as you can see the WebCenter and ECM technologies are critical for many aspects of the Oracle business and organizations that are integrating these technologies together – Oracle has a stand-alone Enterprise 2.0 business. Which means as a development team, we are focused on building features and functionality that ensure we remain leaders in the portal and enterprise content management markets. Continued Focus Area - Oracle has made significant investments into this market area over the years with the Stellent and BEA acquisitions. We’ve continued to build upon these products with new features in subsequent patch sets and releases. We also have added many key new features in the recent 11g product release. - Additionally, we recently made some additional investments in this product area by bringing in 2 new key executives to run the product lines – Kumar Vora the new SVP for Enterprise 2.0 came from Adobe and ran their livecycle product line. Ken Moore now runs the development group – he co-founded groove networks with Ray Ozzie. He then worked at Microsoft in the SharePoint division before moving to Oracle. Beyond this strong investment in the E20 organization, we’ve continued to grow our R&D organization as well as leverage other development teams across Oracle by incorporating best of breed products and features into the E20 product offering.

  • Complete: Comprehensive Industry Portfolio – Complete breadth and depth of the solutions across industries with an integrated tech stack. Open: Standards-Based Architecture – Build to open industry and technology standards. Re-architected to run on Fusion Middleware. Ideal for heterogeneous environments. Integrated: Designing all Applications to Work Together – Integrated architecture allowing easier interactions within and across enterprises. Best of Breed: With the combined technologies from BEA and Oracle, it’s a robust industry leading software in the market place which is proven my many developers. There are new Gartner MQs available that reflect this.
  • Portals are a strategic focus for Oracle .
