Ideas for Success:We all know how useful an ATM machine is forus. But how it came about? You might be surprised to know it’s not arecent invention.1966:Workers could not get the money because theywere working during the banking hours. Andbanks didn’t work on their off days.
The Scottish engineer James Goodfellow wasgiven the task of figuring out a way for peopleto take out money from their banks after workhours and on weekends. The idea for the ATM was born.Goodfellow knew there needed to be a way toconfirm the customers identity at an ATM,But: Fingerprint, scans or voice recognitiondevices seemed a little too complicated.(Even now it’s not that comman)So he came up with the idea of linking a set ofnumbers, known only to the account owner, toan encoded card. If the two numbers matched, only then the person would receive theirmoney.
Rewards:Goodfellow patented the pin number in 1966,and 40 years later received royal honors for hisinvention.Today, his system can be found in ATMsworldwide, as well as anywhere debit cards areaccepted.………………………………………………………………………Learn how to create great ideas:IDEA MACHINE: Practical Creativity TrainingMumbai: 19th -20th Aug 2011Details: www.puneetbhatnagar.comCall: email@example.com
