El PAST SIMPLE

Utilitzem el past simple per parlar de coses que van tenir lloc en el passat.

Forma afirmativa – verbs regulars

Els verbs regulars formen el passat afegint la terminació –ed a la forma bàsica del verb.

       - I/You/He/She/It/We/You/They called.

Play – Played                                   They played tennis yesterday.
Pass – Passed                                   The passed all her exams.
Star – Started.                                 The film started late.

       - Els verbs que acaben en –e afegeixen només –d:

Dance – Danced                                  They danced all night.
Arrive - Arrived                                He arrived late.

       - Si el verb acaba en –y, aquesta vegada es converteix en –i devant de –ed:

Try – Tried                                     My mother studied French.
Study - Studied                                 The baby cried all night.

       - Els verbs curts que acaben en conconant + vocal + consonant dupliquen la
       consonant final abans d’afegir –ed:

Stop – Stopped                                  The referee stopped the match.
Plan - Planned                                  They robbed the bank.



Forma afirmativa – verbs irregulars

       - Hi ha verbs que no afegeixen la terminación –ed per fer el passat, sinó que
       utilitzen formes completamente direfents les unes de les altres i no es pot fer una
       norma.

Eat – Ate                                       I ate a lot.
Drive - Drove                                   He drove fastly.
