Green given the thumbs up • 68% Of Executives foresee increased government regulation on environment • 77% Of Companies anticipate spending more on Environmental Programs. • 83% Of Largest Retailers are involved in Green Practices • Large companies are more aware than ever of the of their carbon footprint, and many investors are equally concerned as they come to more fully understand how carbon emissions could increasingly affect profitability and liabilities.

The business opportunities • New industries - Goods and services aimed at battling climate change generated $300 billion in annual revenues. ➡ surpassing the biotech and software sectors combined. • New innovations - 2008 greatest number of The first generation of IP-based energy management applications will be released.

Universities become green • Future university selection criteria may include “greeness”. 63 percent of college applicants surveyed said they would value having information about a college’s commitment to the environment and that such data could affect their choice to apply or attend a school. • Why does this matter? • Future green graduates entering workforce - adding skills and selecting companies based on “greeness”.

Green moves up & down organisation. • Key is not just CEO support - but throughout organisation. • Gap between employer and employee. A survey or workers found that 63 percent considered themselves to be greener than their employers.

Product Stewardship Creates a Material Change. • Companies retain responsibility for their goods long after they sell them — and even after the goods have outlived their useful lives. • Computer manufacturers redesigned packaging to create less waste and lower costs. Dell plans to eliminate 20m pounds of packaging worldwide within the next four years, a move expected to save about $8 million.
