  1. 1. Agony of Victory
  2. 2. 1CORINTHIANS 2:1-2 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
  3. 3. WHAT CRUCIFIXION MEANT TO PAUL Power of God unto Salvation - Rom 1:16 Demonstration of God's power unto Salvation, righteousness, sanctification and redemption - 1Cor 1:18-30 Crucification free us from sin - Rom 6:6-14 There is victory over sin and death- Rom 6
  4. 4. CRUCIFIXION FROM THE EYES OF JEWS A stumbling block to the Jews (meanness of his birth, parentage and education, His ministry, His sufferings and death on the cross 1 Cor 1:23 Cursed to those who hung on the tree Deut 21:22 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us:for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree Gal 3:13
  5. 5. CRUCIFIXION FROM THE EYES OF GREEKS Foolishness (Son of God crucified? How can you have riches out of poverty? How can there be victory in death? Life for men in. His death? 1 Cor 1:23 Ridicule...how can blessings come from His shameful death on the cross and He has been made a curse on the cross
  6. 6. SCRIPTURE READING Matthew Chapter 26:57-68 Matthew Chapter 27:1-2, 11-55
  7. 7. CRUCIFIXION OF CHRIST FROM 2 VIEWPOINTS John Gospel convey to us the wonder of God's Glory and Grace and Love in the death of Christ John 3:16 Matthew approaches the cross from the standpoint of the wickedness of men. It is wickedness unmatched ( Acts 2 Christ was killed by wicked hands/ Jer 17:9)

Jesus last words It is Finished In Greek ' tetelestai' it is an accounting term....paid in full...Jesus was declaring that the debt of sin has been paid in full by what He has done on the cross. Because of He has finished at the cross, we can begin a new life in Him and reconciled to God through the second Adam, Jesus who gave us a new life in Him
  14. 14. AWESOME TESTIMONY A man who watched Jesus be scourged by the cruelty of soldiers, mocked and abused Him and probable enjoyed every minute of it A man who was responsible for the death and to torture of Jesus....he saw the contrast of many whom he had crucified....usually swore and cursed...He noticed the tender mercy in the voice of Jesus to the penitent thief...He was amazed to see Jesus amidst His suffering telling John to take care of his mother When Jesus gave up His spirit, there was violent earthquake...and this man confessed this was the Son of God and certainly was a righteous man
