2. Email The Inactive
• When a user doesn’t visit your website for a
period of a week, a month, a year; send them
an email say that you miss them and encourage
the user to come back
3. Get Them To Give You Feedback
• If someone wants to leave, before they
unsubscribe, ask why they are leaving with a
series of checkboxes.
• Then provide them with information and tips for
their reason to try and get them to stay
4. Give Them A Direct Contact
• People can leave because they are angry, or
are confused about what you offer. Give them a
personal contact and try and talk them back into
staying
5. Tell Them What Happens
• If a user decides to delete there account, tell
them what actually get’s deleted, and all the
cool things they’ll miss out on
• And to top it off, they can never get that data
back
6. Just Give Them An Error
• If you give a user an error message when they
try to leave, they’d get frustrated and just close
the browsers window
7. Hide The Delete Button
• If they can’t find the delete button, they can’t
leave
8. Make Them Go Through Hoops
• Send them many “Are You Sure”, “This action
cannot be undone” emails and get them to
confirm them all
• And to top it off, give them a 14 day cooling of
period – if they come back, they have to do it all
again
9. Give Them Reasons To Stay
• If you give them a reason to stay, they may
stay. Financial incentives work a treat
