  • 9. Why does Nima climb? • Nima works very hard to earn money to support his family, principally his kids education in Kathmandu. • It’s the best job -and- Sherpa are the only high-altitude workers in the Khumbu.

  • 14. How Climbing Expeditions Work • Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla • Trek progressively higher • Trekking guides / porters and climbing guides • Zoes and Yaks are also used to carry loads to base camp • Cooks and other non-climbing staff support the climbing team
