    • ENGLISH RESEARCH ASSIGHNMENT ROMEO JACK AVERILL
    • ROMEO• Romeo is one of the title characters in the William Shakespears play Romeo and Juliet. Romeo is the son of old Montague and his wife. Romeo secretly loves Juliet, a member of the rival house of Capulet.• Romeo is a protagonist along with Juliet.• Romeo is from the play Romeo and Juliet. It is a tragedy play.• The play is set in the 16th century in Verona, Italy.
    • ROMEO AND JULIET SYNOPSISRomeo and Juliet is a story revolvingaround two families in Verona, Italy.Despite their two families fighting,Romeo and Juliet fall in love and secretlymarry.The story unfolds tragically whenconfused messages mean Romeo takespoison believing Juliet to be dead. Julietwakens to find her lover dead and takesher own life.
    • CONFLICT IN ROMEO AND JULIET• Person vs person – street brawls, Mercutio and Tybalt fight, Romeo slays Tybalt, Parris is killed by The Latter.• Person vs self – Romeo drinks poison and dies Juliet stabs herself.• Person vs fate – Romeo and Juliet are ment to be together.• Person vs society – Society is against Romeo and Juliet being together as Juliet is Capulet and Romeo is Montague.
    • MAIN CONFLICT DRIVING PLOT• The main conflict that drives the plot in Romeo and Juliet is the forbidden love between Romeo who is from the Montague family and Juliet who is from the Capulet family. These two families hate each other.
    • PLOT STRUCTURE• EXPOSITION – Romeo shows his love for Rosaline. Normal conversations are going on in the Montague and Capulet families. Mercuto makes fun of Romeo because Rosaline will never marry him.• EXITING FORCE – Romeo meets Juliet at the Capulet house and completely forgets about Rosaline.• RISING ACTION – Romeo secretly marries Juliet fearing that the Montague and Capulet families would never let them marry.• TURNING POINT – Tybalt kills Mercuto then Romeo kills Tybalt. The prince then banishes Romeo from Verona.
    • • FALLING ACTION – Paris is about to be married to Juliet and the Capulets still don’t know about Juliets secret marriage. Juliet decides to fake her death with a potion that the Friar gives her.• MOMENT OF FINAL SUSPENCE – Romeo is told Juliet is dead when she is really asleep from the potion. Romeo goes to the Capulet vault ready to drink the poison.• CATASTROPHY –Romeo drinks the poison and dies. Juliet wakes up to find that Romeo is dead and kills herself with a dagger.• RESOLUTION – Both families agree to stop hatred after the tragedy.
    • EXPLORING THE CHARACTER• BEGGINNINGRomeo is hopelessly in love with Rosaline butbecause he can’t be with her he is totallydevastated, gloomy, he doesn’t want to talk toanyone and he hides himself from everybody.He is driven by the fact that he loves Rosalineso much.
    • • MIDDLERomeo then meets Juliet and everything is fullof light, he is happy again, and he jokes aroundwith Mercutio.Romeo is influenced largely by Juliet as shechanges his perspective on life.Romeo is affected largely by conflict as hisfamily, the Montagues, and the Capulets arealways fighting and because of this he ends upkilling Tybalt.
    • • ENDRomeo becomes a lot more mature andconfident. He is now exited about livingbecause he loves Juliet and Juliet loves himback. But then he kills himself so by the end ofthe play he has lost his life.
