Software Testing Tool Report

  1. 1. A REPORT ON SOFTWARE TESTING TOOL(WAPT) BY ABDUL-REHMAN ASLAM(9998) YASIR MEHMOOD(9994) January 16, 2013 PREPARED FORMADAM ASMA ABID (COURSE INSTRUTOR)
  2. 2. Introduction of WAPT: Web testing is the name given to software testing thatfocuses on web applications. Complete testing of a web-based system before going livecan help address issues before the system is revealed to the public. A web applicationperformance tool (WAPT) is used to test web applications and web related interfaces. These tools are used for performance, load and stress testing of web applications, websites, web servers and other web interfaces. WAPT tends to simulate virtual userswhich will repeat either recorded URLs or specified URL and allows the users to specifynumber of times or iterations that the virtual users will have to repeat the recordedURLs. By doing so, the tool is useful to check for bottleneck and performance leakagein the website or web application being tested.A WAPT faces various challenges during testing and should be able to conduct testsfor: Browser compatibility Operating System compatibility Windows application compatibility where required (especially for backend testing)WAPT allows a user to specify how virtual users are involved in the testingenvironment.ie either increasing users or constant users or periodic users load.Increasing user load, step by step is called RAMP where virtual users are increasedfrom 0 to hundreds. Constant user load maintains specified user load at all time.Periodic user load tends to increase and decrease the user load from time to time.Steps included in Testing:The type of Testing that we are going to perform is “Stress Testing”.Stress Testing:Stress testing is a form of testing that is used to determine the stability of a givensystem or entity. It involves testing beyond normal operational capacity, often to abreaking point, in order to observe the results. Stress testing may have a more specificmeaning in certain industries, such as fatigue testing for materials.Testing Procedure:The Testing Procedure Include following steps.
  3. 3. Step 1:In the First step the type of testing that we are going to perform is selected..Step 2:This step is to select the number of user that are going to use.
  4. 4. Step 3:Decide the duration of the test.Step 4:
  5. 5. Step 5:Step 6:
  6. 6. Step 7:Write the URL of the web site whose performance will be test.
  7. 7. Step 8:Step 9:
  8. 8. Step 10:Step 11:
  9. 9. After the test is performed, test volume is generated.Step 12:The log and report setting is shown below.
  10. 10. Step 13:The result of the test is.
