Who works in a school that has banned Mobile Phones in the classroom? Ipods? Playstation Portables Nintendo DS WHY? Why have they been banned? Control of the curriculum and they don’t fit in with our curriculum, our school pedagogy and the school structure. We as educators are missing the boat with m learning. We have banned phones. It is like banning note books and biros so that the students will have to use the slate and chalk at school

  • 13. In a year 11 class, 20% had an iphone or ipod touch Saturday, 3 October 2009 100% of students had a mobile phone - close to 50% of this class had a phone with 3G capabilities. This is in a school with a traditionally low socio- economic background.

Evernote - Remember everything TweetDeck - A twitter app Documents - sync and edit your Google docs and spreadsheets DropBox, iDisk ABC VNC lite Saturday, 3 October 2009 Today we will look at the first 3 apps in depth and how they can be used in Education. In the closing stages I will show you some other apps that are available to download. The key to remember is that the app store is constantly changing.

You can add voice memos (on ipod touch version 2 and iPhones) and photos on the iPhone. You can even link your twitter account to Evernote and send tweets to yourself so that don’t forget something.

TweetDeck is a twitter client that allows you to follow trending topics. Here are two screen shots 30 seconds apart after the Tsunami warning went out as well as the earthquake in Sumatra. So how can we use this in a school setting? The thing to remember about twitter is that it is all about who you follow.

The fantastic thing about them is that a student need not say he or she has lost their USB thumb drive again.
