VMGC was established May 12th, 1938 by George F. Veenker,former ISU Athletic Director and Football Coach. Originally, a Perry Maxwell design,VMGC has since become one of the most talked about and challenging golf courses inthe Midwest. Veenker offers a full range of golfing activities for the enjoyment andbenefit of Iowa State students, faculty, staff, friends of ISU, and the City of Ames.Job Description (Golf Course Maintenance Worker / Internship)____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________This position is for a daily golf course maintenance worker starting the spring of 2012.The applicant, under the supervision of the assistant superintendent will perform routinemanual labor involved in golf course maintenance including but not limited to:  mowing of areas on the golf course (greens, tees, fairways, etc…),  raking bunkers, pulling golf carts, filling divots, changing water coolers,  push mowing and trimming around the clubhouse and golf course,  small scale landscaping and course cleanup,  maintaining off campus areas through mowing and trimming,  tournament preparation for daily events and Iowa Masters,  helping on the driving range (picking golf balls),  assisting the mechanic in small equipment maintenanceJob Requirements____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Prior experience in course maintenance is preferred but not required. Individuals withoutprior experience will be trained.
