2. Introduction
I am carrying out this task in order to show the inner
and outer presence of each character clearly to the
audience. I am also establishing which props need to
be used during filming, to create the Mise en Scene.
This will add to the realism of the production and also
help it to fit the genre conventions.
3. Kelly, Stacey & Chantelle
Costume- Fake Ralph Lauren polo shirts, leggings and
trainers. Hooped earrings, big hair and heavy makeup (red
lipstick). Stacey will wear a hoody.
Why?- To give the stereotypical impression of ‘Chavs’. They
will all wear similar outfits to show they are in a gang or group
together. Stacey is wearing a hoody to show to the audience
that she is the most independent in the group, whereas
Chantelle is wearing almost the exact same outfit as Kelly.
The red lipstick will connote danger and anger, showing them
that something bad is going to happen.
Responsibility – I will be in charge of bringing the outfits from
home, each of us will be responsible for bringing in trainers
and makeup. Lauren is bringing in the hair scrunchies,
4. Rosie & Kate
Costume – Both girls will wear floral dresses and flat shoes.
Minimal makeup and natural hairstyles. Pink lipstick. They will
both have their hair down and natural. In the beginning scene
Rosie will have bruising and blood all over her face.
Why? – Floral patterns are pretty and represent the nature of
both girls and they’re personalities. They will wear minimal
makeup to represent innocence and youth. Rosie will have
blood on her face to show the audience she has been
attacked and they will be able to show sympathy towards her
and her situation as they can tell her state of mind.
Responsibility – Lauren is responsible for bringing in the
outfits for both characters and the shoes.
5. Tom
Costume – He will wear jeans and a black top.
Why? – Jeans represent his casual personality as if
he is not trying to hard. Which shows one of the
reasons Rosie was attracted to him. The black top
represents his ‘bad boy’ persona, and the idea of
him being a ladies man.
Responsibility – This will be Danielle’s
responsibility to get the clothes from home.
6. Props :
- Party Cups
- Bottles of drink
- Crisps
- Mirror
- Lipstick
- A phone
Why? – The bottles of drinks, cups and snacks will be laid out to show the
audience that there is clearly a party or a gathering going on. The mirror will be
used to show Kelly in two different ways, therefore representing her mental health
issues. Mobile phones will be used at the party for taking pictures or texting.
Responsibility – We are all responsible for the props if we are able to bring them
in from home.
Prop Ideas
7. Conclusion
This task has helped me with portraying the stereotypes
of each character very clearly. For example Rosie and
Kate wearing floral dresses to represent their youth and
innocence. Not only has this task helped with presenting
the outer presence, it has shown me ways I can present a
hidden meaning to show the inner presence of each
character. For example Tom wearing black clothing to
show his dark past. Establishing the props needed has
also been useful as now I have a clear Mise En Scene to
make the framing of the shot as realistic as possible.
