Sentences Sentences Presentation Transcript

  • Which one of this is NOT a sentence?
    • A tiny seed is planted in the forest.
    • A seed grows into a tree.
    • The tree
    • Trees give us food, clothing and shelter.
  • What is a sentence?
  • A sentence is a group of words that tells a complete idea.
    • The
    forest needs your help so plant tree. a Can you make a sentence out of these words? (find the complete sentence on the next slide)

  • In PO16, we did three rotation activities to practice building sentences. In this activity, we put three related pictures together and we wrote a sentence about one picture.
  • A boy likes to play on the snow. The girl is making a sandcastle and she put some shell and the wind blew it.
  • In the second rotation, we played a puzzle game. This skill building puzzle provides students with building sentence practice. Each colored puzzle with a word represents a part of a sentence.
  • In the third rotation, the challenge was to create funny sentences. Each piece had a beginning sentence, but the fun starts when the sentences are mixed up! This little bug sings in the bath!
  • How else did we build sentences? We read a number story about Moby.
  • Then we cut up the words to make a a sentence that make sense.
  • Moby has six planes and five cars. How many toys in all? 5+6=11 toys
