  • 1. At I.S.M.
    We have things called…
  • 2. TRANSDISCIPLINARYSKILLS
  • 3. That’s right!
    Transdisciplinary Skills!
  • 4. What are Transdisciplinary Skills, you ask?
  • 5. Skills
are things that you learn to do well and that will help you get a job done.
  • 6. Transdisciplinary
    means that
you can use the skills in almost anything you do
    at school
    and
    even outside of school
  • 7. Balancing on top of a ball is a skill,
    but
is it a skill that you can use most of the time?
  • 8. Playing the violin
    is a skill,
but is it a skill that you can use most of the time?
  • 9. Let’s think of some skills that we can use most of the time,
    whether we are in
    Math,
    Art,
    P.E.
    or
    languageclasses,
  • 10. Or even when we aren’t at school.
  • 11. One of those skills is:
    Communication
  • 12. Communicating
    means
    Sharing your answers
    &
    ideas through
    Reading
    Writing
    Listening
    Speaking
  • 13. Another one of those skills is:
    Critical Thinking
    &
    Problem Solving
  • 14. Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
    means
    how you tackle problems
if some of your learning is hard to figure out.
    You can do this by:
    asking questions,
    listening to others
    and
    being creative
with ideas that could help solve your problems
  • 15. Another is:
    Connection
    &
    Collaboration
  • 16. Connection
    &
    Collaboration
    means:
Being cooperative with a group or partner,
    Discussing ideas,
    Respecting the ideas of others
    and
    Making decisions together
  • 17. How about:
    Personal Management
    &
    Reflection
  • 18. Personal Management
    &
    Reflection
    means:
    setting goals
    working towards goals
    reflecting on goals
    beingorganized
    and
    trying to improve
  • 19. And the last one is:
    Research
  • 20. Research
    means
Figuring out what your question or problem is,
    Searching for information
Reading and understanding the information and sharing it with others
  • 21. So, ask yourself:
    “How good am I
    at
    reading, writing, listening and speaking?”
  • 22. and
“How could I get better at communicating?
  • 23. “How good am I
    asking questions,
    listeningto others
    and
    being creative
    at
    solving my problems?”
  • 24. and
    “How could I get better
    at
    critical thinking
    &
    problem solving?
  • 25. “How good am I
    at
cooperating with a group or partner,
    discussing ideas,
    and
    making decisions together?”
  • 26. and
    “How could I get better
    at
    connecting
    &
    collaborating?
  • 27. “How good am I
    at
    working on goals,
    staying organized,
    reflecting on my progress
    and
    trying to improve?”
  • 28. and
    “How could I get better
    at
    personal management
    and
    reflection?
  • 29. “How good am I
    at
    searching for information
    reading and understanding the information
    and
    sharing it with others?”
  • 30. and
    “How could I get better
    at
    research?
  • 31. Now,
    choose 2 of these
    transdisciplinary
    skills.
  • 32. Write about
how you are doing on them
    and
    how you think
    you need to improve.
