  1. 1.
  2. 2. SOME SINCERE ADVICE TO EVERY CHRISTIAN By, Dr. SAALEH AS-SAALEH With Appendix JESUS AND MUHAMMAD (Peace be upon them) IN THE BIBLE AND THE QUR’AAN Biblical Evidence of Jesus being a Servant of God and having no share in Divinity By, Dr. MUHAMMAD TAQEEUDDEEN AL-HILAALI, Ph.D.Formerly Professor of Islaamic Faith and Teachings, Islaamic University, Madeenah Munawwarah
  3. 3. PUBLISHER’S NOTEThe article “Some Sincere Advice to every Christian” hasbeen extracted from Dr. Saaleh as-Saaleh’s officialwebsite The originaldocument consists of the Arabic text of verses that havebeen quoted and translated from the Qur’aan. But, for thesake of keeping the book concise, we have published onlythe translation of the Qur’aanic verses without the Arabictext. Also, words such as Islam, Allah and Qur’an have beenedited with Islaam, Allaah and Qur’aan so as to facilitateproper pronunciation of Arabic words with long vowels.
  4. 4. INTRODUCTIONMost people agree to the fact that Allaahs (God’s) Wordcannot be contradictory. What He spoke about Himselfmust be true. He made Himself known as The Creator,The One, The Originator, and The Provider. He is theFirst, nothing is before Him; The Last, nothing is afterHim; The Most High, nothing is above Him; The MostNear, nothing is beyond His reach, and He encompasseseverything while He is above heavens, distinct andseparate from His creatures. Great in His Majesty andHonor, Most Merciful, Severe in Punishment, All-Knower, Most Compassionate, All-Wise, and All-Just;Most Perfect in all of His Names and Attributes. He doesnot beget, nor is He begotten. There is no equal to Him,and there is nothing like unto Him, and thus He alonedeserves to be worshipped. In essence, the religion asrevealed1 to nations before us and to mankind up to theDay of Resurrection, calls for the worship of none butGod (Allaah). Any Message from the Perfect God is true, and cannot be contradictory. He entrusted manyProphets and/or Messengers since creation began on earth.Starting with Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, andending with Muhammad, peace be upon them all, theessence of religion was and still is: people must submitto their Creator and worship Him as He revealed totheir respective Messengers and/or Prophets. This is1. Religion as a revelation from God, and in its original form isdifferent from the concept of religion understood by many in theWest. Many people founded for themselves certain disciplines andpractices and called it “religions.” The Word of Allaah in all therevealed religions represented a concrete message defining therelationship of man to His Creator. The final and most comprehensivemessage which covers all codes of life until the Day of Resurrectionwas revealed to Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.
  5. 5. the true Message, and Jesus, peace be upon Him, is one ofthose great Prophets and Messengers who was sent to theChildren of Israel, after Moses, confirming the revelationsent down to Moses and the Gospel that he received fromAllaah. This same Message was confirmed by ProphetMuhammad, peace be upon him, believing in the trueGospel that came to Jesus and propagating the final andmost comprehensive revelation to mankind, the Quraan. The Quraan, being Allaahs Word, confirms and attests tothe true nature of Jesus, and this is not known by manypeople. This book will introduce the reader to theQuraanic texts related to Jesus, peace be upon him, hoping that the truth regarding the personality of Jesusbecomes clear.Saaleh As-Saaleh3/12/1415 AHMay 2, 1995 CE.Revised 4/7/1425 AHSept. 18, 2004.
  6. 6. A Miracle...And a Human Was BornAn Honorable FamilyThe family of Jesus is the Family of Imraan. It was afamily chosen by Allaah:"Allaah chose Adam, Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of Imraan, above the Aalameen(mankind and jinns of their times). Offspring, one fromthe other, and Allaah is the All-Hearer, All-Knower."(Quraan 2 3:33-34)An Honorable Mother under the Care of AllaahWhen Marys mother, the wife of Imraan, was pregnant, she made a vow:"(Remember) when the wife of Imraan said: O MyRabb3 (Allaah)! I have vowed to You what is in mywomb to be dedicated for Your services (free from allworldly work; to serve Your Place of Worship), so accept(this), from me. Verily, You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knowing". (Quraan 3: 35-36)Allaah accepted her invocation, and Mary was born andkept under the care of Prophet Zachariah, as Allaah, MostGlorified, had ordained:2. Whenever a translation of a verse is cited, then this refers to thetranslation of the meaning.3. Rabb: Allaah is ar-Rabb: He is the One Who gave all things thepower to grow, to move and to change, to Whom belongs the Creationand Commandment, The Master Who has no equal in HisSovereignty, Predominance, and Highness, The One Who Providesand Sustains all that exists.
  7. 7. "So her Rabb (Allaah) accepted her with goodlyacceptance. He made her grow in a good manner andput her under the care of Zachariah. Every time heentered Al-Mihraab (a praying place or a private room)to (visit) her, he found her supplied with sustenance. He said: O Mary! From where have you got this? Shesaid, From Allaah. Verily, Allaah provides sustenanceto whom He will, without counting." (Quraan 3: 37)Allaah chose her above all the women of her lifetime:"And (remember) when the angels said: O Mary!Verily, Allah has chosen you, purified you (frompolytheism and disbelief), and chosen you above thewomen of Al-Aalameen (mankind and jinns of herlifetime)." (Quraan 3: 42)The Good NewsThe angels brought Mary the good news about the birth ofa "Word" from Allaah. The Word was Be! And he was!Jesus, son of Mary:"(Remember) when the angels said: O Mary! Verily,Allaah gives you the glad tidings of a Word ("Be!"-andhe was! i.e. Jesus the son of Mary) from Him, his namewill be the Messiah Jesus, the son of Mary, held inhonor in this world and in the Hereafter, and he willbe one of those who are near to Allaah. He will speakto the people in the cradle and in manhood, and he willbe one of the righteous." (Quraan 3: 45-46)The "Word" is not God, it is a Word from God, spokenby Him; it is the Word “Be”- and he was! i.e. Jesus is acreation by the Command of Allaah: Be! This means he is
  8. 8. not part of Allaah. He, Most Glorified, does not partitionHimself into any thing or any being. Jesus: No Human Father! Adam: No Human Father or Mother! A Miraculous CreationMary received the news. She raised the question:"She said: O My Rabb! How shall I have a son whenno man has touched me?" He said: "So, (it will be), forAllaah creates what He wills. When He has decreedsomething. He says to it only: "Be!"-and it is." (Quraan3: 47)Such Miraculous creation does not make him a "son ofGod." Adam had neither a father nor a mother. So, shouldwe give him a “Special Divinity”? No one says this. Thusponder what Allah said concerning Adam and Jesus, peacebe upon them both:"Verily, the likeness of Jesus in Allaahs Sight is thelikeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then (He)said to him: "Be!"-and he was. (This is) the truth fromyour Rabb, so be not of those who doubt." (Quraan 3:59-60)And Allaah does not beget. He, Most Exalted, says in theQuraan (19: 88-95):
  9. 9. "And they say: "The Most Beneficent (Allaah) hasbegotten a son (or offspring or children) 4.""Indeed you have brought forth (said) a terrible evilthing.""Whereby the heavens are almost torn, and the earthis split asunder, and the mountains fall in ruins.""That they ascribe a son (or offspring or children) to theMost Beneficent (Allaah).""But it is not suitable for (the Majesty of) the MostBeneficent (Allaah) that He should beget a son (oroffspring or children).""There is none in the heavens and the earth but comesunto the Most Beneficent (Allaah) as a slave.""Verily, He knows each one of them, and has countedthem a full counting.""And every one of them will come to Him alone on theDay of Resurrection (without any helper, or protector ordefender).”4. As the Jews said: Ezra is the "son of Allaah” and the Christians saidthat Allaah has "begotten a son (Christ, peace be upon him), and thepagan Arabs said that He has "begotten daughters (angels, etc.). Thesame was said many times in the past, i.e. in the Greek Mythology.Allaah is high Above what they attribute to Him.
  10. 10. The Conception:Mary miraculously conceived Jesus, and delivered a boyunder a palm tree:"And mention in the Book (i.e. the Quraan, OMuhammad, the story of) Mary, when she withdrew inseclusion from her family to a place facing East."(Quraan 19:16)."She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them (herfamily); then We5 sent to her Our Rooh (angel Gabriel),and he appeared before her in the form of a man in allrespects." (Quraan 19: 17)"She said: Verily! I seek refuge with the MostBeneficent (Allaah) from you, if you do fear Allaah."(Quraan 19: 18)"(The angel) said: I am only a Messenger from yourRabb, (to announce) to you the gift of a righteous son.”(Quraan 19: 19)"She said: How can I have a son, when no man hastouched me, nor am I unchaste?” (Quraan 19: 20)5. The "We" refers to Allaah Himself. This is for Glorification andMagnification. It is common with Semitic languages for any Monarchto use the "We" and "Us" when referring to himself. In England, people are familiar with the Royal “We” particular for the Queenherself. To Allaah belongs the best example. When Allaah says "We"or "Us" no one who is familiar with the Arabic language understandsthat this refers to "more than one God united in one"! He is One andall of His Attributes describe Himself alone and are not qualities ofseparate "gods"! He, Allaah, is the All-Merciful, The Compassionate,The Provider, and so forth.
  11. 11. "He said: So (it will be), your Rabb said: That is easyfor Me (Allaah); And (We wish) to appoint him as asign to mankind and a mercy from Us (Allaah), and itis a matter (already) decreed , (by Allaah).” (Quraan19: 21)"So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to afar place (i.e. Bethlehem valley about 4-6 miles fromJerusalem)." (Quraan 19: 22)"And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk ofa palm-tree. She said: Would that I had died beforethis, and had been forgotten and out of sight!"(Quraan19: 23)"Then (the babe "Jesus" or Gabriel) cried unto her frombelow her, saying: Grieve not! Your Rabb hasprovided a water stream under you." (Quraan 19:24)"And shake the trunk of palm-tree towards you, it willlet fall fresh ripe-dates upon you." (Quraan 19: 25)"So eat and drink, and if you see any human being, say: Verily! I have vowed a fast unto the MostBeneficent (Allaah) so I shall not speak to any humanbeing this day." (Quraan 19: 26)Then she brought the babe "Jesus" to her people. Theycould not believe what they saw:"Then she brought him (the baby) to her people, carrying him. They said: O Mary! Indeed you havebrought a thing Fariyya (an unheard mighty thing)!"(Quraan 19: 27)
  12. 12. "O sister (i.e. the like) of Aaron 6! Your father was nota man who used to commit adultery, nor was yourmother an unchaste woman." (Quraan 19: 28)And he spoke in the cradle, explaining himself:"Then she pointed to him. They said: How can we talkto one who is a child in the cradle?” (Quraan 19: 29)He (Jesus) said: Verily! I am a slave of Allaah, He hasgiven me the Scripture and made me a Prophet.(Quraan 19: 30)"And He has made me blessed whosesoever I be, andhas enjoined on me prayer, and Zakaah (prescribedcharity), as long as I live." (Quraan 19: 31)"And dutiful to my mother7, and made me notarrogant, unblest." (Quraan 19:32)"And Salaam (peace) be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die (after his descent to earth prior to theDay of Judgment), and the day I shall be raised alive(i.e. resurrection from his grave after on the Day ofJudgment!)" (Quraan 19: 31)6. The Aaron mentioned here is not the brother of Moses, but he wasa pious man at the time of Mary, peace be upon her.7. It is very strange to read in the Bible statements attributed to Jesusin which he was impolite to his mother! In John 2: 4, it reads: "Hesaid to Mary, "Woman, what have I to do with you". Also inMatthew 12: 47, we find: "Then one said unto Jesus, "Behold, yourmother and brethren stand without, desiring to talk to you" But heanswered and said, "Who is my mother? And who are mybrethren?" Certainly these cannot be the words of a great Prophetwho has a great moral character. It is an insult against Jesus thatAllaah does not accept.
  13. 13. Allaah then stresses the reality of Jesus for all of thosewho have any doubt about him or his Message:"Such is Jesus, son of Mary, (it is) a statement of truth, about which they doubt (or dispute)." (Quraan 19: 34)"It befits not (the Majesty of) Allaah that He shouldbeget a son8. Glorified (and Exalted be He above all thatthey associate with Him). When He decrees a thing, Heonly says to it, "Be"!-and it is."(Quraan 19: 35)Jesus was given revelation (i.e. the original Gospel)fortified with miracles. People at his time deeply believedin miracles. The manifestation of miracles on the hands ofJesus was to bring people to the belief that he wasAllaah’s Messenger.8. Referring to the slander of Christians against Allaah, by saying thatJesus is the son of Allaah. In another statement in the Quraan, Allaahsays: "And they (Jews, Christians, and pagans) say: Allaah hasbegotten a son (children or offspring). Glory be to Him (Exalted beabove all that they associate with Him). Nay, to Him belongs all thatis in heavens and on earth, and all surrender with obedience (inworship) to Him." (Quraan 116-117). It has been a common trait inhistory for mankind to liken Allaah to a human in some way oranother, but Allaah is totally unique. The Prophet Muhammad (MayAllaahs Praise and Peace be upon him) said: “Allaah said: The son ofAdam tells a lie against Me though he has no right to do so, and heabuses Me though he has no right to do so. As for his telling a lieagainst Me, it is that he claims that I cannot recreate him as I createdhim before; and as for his abusing Me, it is his statement that I have ason (or offspring, etc.) No! Glorified be Me! I am far from taking awife or a son (or offspring etc.”-Reported in the most authentic bookof Hadeeth (sayings, admonitions, actions, approvals, descriptions, etc. of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) known as Saheehal-Bukhaari, V. 6, Hadeeth # 9; Published by Daar Al-Arabia, Beirut,Lebanon. Authentically transmitted Hadeeth is an inspiration fromAllaah to the Prophet, peace be upon him. There is a great science inIslaam devoted to the study of Hadeeth and its transmission (s).
  14. 14. "And He (Allaah) will teach him (Jesus) the Book andAl-Hikmah9, (and) the Torah and the Gospel." (Quraan3: 48)"And will make him (Jesus) a Messenger to the ofIsrael (saying): "I have come to you with a sign fromyour Rabb, that I design for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomesa bird by Allaah’s Leave; and I heal him who was bornblind, and the leper, and I bring the dead to life byAllaahs Leave.10 And I inform you of what you eat,and what you store in your houses. Surely, therein is asign for you, if you believe." (Quraan 3: 49)."And I have come confirming that which was beforeme of the Torah, and to make lawful to you part ofwhat was forbidden to you, and I have come to youwith a proof from your Rabb. So fear Allaah and obeyme." (Quraan 3: 50)9. Al-Hikmah: the way of understanding and application of religion(worship) and wisdom in dealing with people and calling them to theworship of Allaah and the purpose of their creation.10. There are those who would say: "but Jesus raised the dead andthus he is God." The fact, however, is that these were miraclesperformed by Jesus by permission from Allaah, his Rabb. Accordingto the Bible statements attributed to Jesus, he said: "I can of mine ownself do nothing". (John 5:30). "The power is given unto me" (Mathew28:18) "I cast devils by the "Spirit (i.e., Will) of God." (Mathew12:28). "Jesus of Nazareth a man approved of God among you bymiracles." (Acts 2:20). "You seek to kill me a man that has told youthe truth which I have heard of God" (John 8:40). The man-ProphetJesus Christ (peace be upon him) was created, and was givenRevelation from Allaah to call the Israelites to the worship of Allaahalone. At the same time, like many Prophets and Messengers beforehim, Allaah gave him certain miracles to show His Signs to those whowere being called to submit to Allaah, and in order to make theirhearts content and certain.
  15. 15. And a clear Message:"Truly! Allaah is my Rabb and your Rabb, so worshipHim (Alone). This is the Straight Path." (Quraan 3: 51)
  16. 16. The Turning of Hearts to the Message of JesusJesus (peace be upon him) persevered in inviting people toAllaah. By Allaahs will, his companions turned to supporthim when he felt the plots of the disbelievers:"And when I (Allaah) put in the hearts of the disciples(of Jesus) to believe in Me and My Messenger, theysaid: "We believe. And bear witness that we areMuslims (those who submit to Allaahs will)." (Quraan 5:111)"Then when Jesus came to know of their disbelief (i.e.from the Children of Israel), he said: Who will be myhelpers in Allaahs Cause? The disciples said: We arethe helpers of Allaah (his religion); we believe inAllaah, and bear witness that we are Muslims (i.e. wesubmit to Allaah). And they (disbelievers) plotted (to killJesus), and Allaah planned too. And Allaah is the Bestof the planners." (Quraan 53-54)
  17. 17. The Qualities of JesusHe was of human nature, one personality and not three, and a Messenger of Allaah:"O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Donot exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allaahaught but the truth. The Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, was (no more than) a Messenger of Allaah and HisWord ("Be!"-and he was) which he bestowed on Maryand a spirit (Rooh) created by Him; so believe inAllaah and His Messengers. Say not: Three (trinity)!Cease! (It is) better for you. For Allaah is (the only)One Ilaah (God), Glory be to Him (Far Exalted is He)above having a son. To Him belongs all that is in theheavens and all that is on the earth. And Allaah is All-Sufficient as a Disposer of affairs." (Quraan 4: 171)"The Messiah (Jesus) son of Mary was no more than aMessenger; many were the Messengers that passedaway before him. His mother (Mary) was a Siddeeqah(i.e. she believed in the Words of Allaah and His Books). They both used to eat food (as any other human being, while Allaah does not eat) 11. Look how We make theAayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to them, yet look how they aredeluded away (from the truth)." (Quraan 5:75)Although Jesus is a Rooh (spirit) from Allaah, this doesnot mean that Jesus is an attribute of Allaah Himself.11. Jesus and his mother ate the food and walked the streets. Allaahdoes not need anything; He is Self-Sufficient. One would imagine thatpeople who contemplate would recognize this fact and come to thenatural conclusion that Divinity is for Allaah alone and not a qualityof any created being.
  18. 18. Allaah called Gabriel Roohana (Our Rooh i.e. Our Spirit)and we know that Gabriel is a created angel, existing, andhas his own created qualities. Similarly Allaah says aboutthe heavens and the earth that:"And has subjected to you all that is in the heavensand all that is in the earth; it is all as a favor andkindness from Allaah." (Quraan 45: 13)Clearly, the heavens and the earth are part of Allaahscreation and not part of Allaah Himself or an attribute ofHim. We also read in the Quraan: Allaahs Messenger,Allaahs House (referring to the Ka’bah in Makkah), etc.The Messenger, the House, etc. are like Allaahs Spirit, inthe sense that they are created persons or things that arehonorable in Allaahs Sight. However, when one of thetwo nouns is Allaah and the second is neither a person nora thing, then it is not a created thing but a quality ofAllaah e.g. Allaahs Knowledge, Allaahs Self, etc. Therefore, Jesus is not an attribute of Allaah. In factAllaah declares that those who believe in Jesus as Godcommit Kufr (disbelief):"Surely, in disbelief are they who say that Allaah is theMessiah, son of Mary! Say (O Muhammad, peace uponhim): "Who then has the least power against Allaah, ifHe were to destroy the Messiah son of Mary, thismother, and all those who are on the earth together? And to Allaah belongs the dominion of the heavens andthe earth, and all that is between them. He createswhat He wills. And Allaah is able to do all things."(Quraan 5: 17)The method of the creation of Jesus is one of the Signs ofAllaah showing His Great Ability of Creating as He Wills:
  19. 19. from a male and a female (ourselves); from a male withouta female (Eve); from a female without a male (Jesus), andfrom neither a male nor a female (Adam):"And We made her and her son (Jesus) a sign for Al-Aalameen (mankind and jinns)." (Quraan 21: 91)Jesus has the honor of being a slave of Allaah:"The Messiah will never be proud to reject to be aslave to Allaah, nor the angels who are near (to Allaah). And whosoever rejects His worship and is proud, thenHe will gather them all together unto Himself."(Quraan 4: 172)
  20. 20. Jesus Never Claimed to Be God (Allaah)No one who receives Revelation from Allaah can claimhimself Divine or God:"It is not (possible) for any human being to whomAllaah has given the Book and Al-Hukma (knowledgeand understanding of the laws of religion, etc.) andProphethood to say to the people: "Be my worshippersrather than Allaahs." On the contrary (he would say):Be you Rabbaaniyyoon (learned men of religion whopractice what they know and also preach others), becauseyou are teaching the Book, and you are studying it.Nor would he order you to take angels and Prophetsfor lords (gods). Would he order you to disbelieve afteryou have submitted to Allaahs will?" (Quraan 3: 79-80)This statement from Allaah affirms the human nature ofProphets and Messengers. Prophet Muhammad (Peace beupon him) advised that:"Do not exaggerate in praising me as the Christianspraised the son of Mary, for I am only a slave. So callme the slave of Allaah and His Messenger."12The exaggerated praise of Jesus13 has led many toconsider him as God besides Allaah! Surely this isdisbelief in Allaah, the Most Perfect, and the Self-Sufficient:12. Reported in Saheeh Al-Bukhaari, V. 4, Hadeeth # 654.13. Given the weak nature of man, such exaggeration have touchedmany people other than Jesus, peace be upon him. People in differentparts of the world have set up rivals to the Creator, offering prayers, and all forms of worship to them.
  21. 21. "Surely, they have disbelieved who say: Allaah is theMessiah (Jesus), son of Mary..." (Quraan 5: 72)And Jesus emphasized that:"But the Messiah (Jesus) said: O Children of Israel!Worship Allaah, my Rabb (Lord) and your Rabb(Lord). Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worshipwith Allaah, then Allaah has forbidden Paradise forhim, and the Fire will be his abode. And for thepolytheists and wrong-doers, there are no helpers."(Quraan 5: 72)And a warning to those who called for making him Threein One, One in Three. A concept never understood evenby many Christians. This Trinity concept was adopted bythe Pauline Church in the year 325 C.E. It was neverpreached by Jesus himself:"Surely, disbelievers are those who said: Allaah is thethird of three (in a Trinity) but there is no true godwho has the right to be worshipped except One God-Allaah. And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall the disbelieversamong them." (Quraan 5: 73)Allaah calls them to repent, saying:"Will they not repent to Allaah and ask HisForgiveness? For Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, MostMerciful." (Quraan 5: 74)Repentance is something that pleases Allaah. It is amanifestation of submission to Him, and it does notrequire any intermediary. Prophet Muhammad (Praise andBlessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
  22. 22. "Allaah is more pleased with the repentance of Hisslave than anyone of you is pleased with finding hiscamel which he had lost in a desert."1414. Saheeh Al-Bukhari, V. 8, Hadeeth # 321.
  23. 23. The Plot and the ResurrectionEvery Prophet was opposed by those who rejected theMessage he brought from Allaah. This conflict has beendetermined by Allaah from way before creation itself.Like many Prophets who were sent to the Children ofIsrael, Jesus, peace be upon him, was opposed and a plotwas made to kill him:"Verily, We took the covenant of the Children of Israeland sent them Messengers. Whenever there came tothem a Messenger with what they themselves desirednot- a group of them they called liars and othersamong them they killed." (Quraan 5: 70)Those who disbelieved were cursed by Allaah:"Those amongst the Children of Israel who disbelievedwere cursed by the tongue of David and Jesus, son ofMary. That was because they disobeyed (Allaah and theMessengers) and were ever transgressing beyonddoubts." (Quraan 5: 78)"And because of their (Jews) disbelief and utteringagainst Mary a grave false charge (that she hascommitted illegal sexual intercourse)." (Quraan 4:156)Allah saved Jesus from their tongues and hands and tookhim to Himself:"And (remember) when Allah said: O Jesus! I will takeyou and raise you (body and soul) to Myself and clearyou of those who disbelieve." (Quraan 3: 55)"(And remember) when I (Allaah) restrained theChildren of Israel from you (when they resolved to kill
  24. 24. you) since you came unto them with clear proofs, andthe disbelievers among them said: "This is nothing butevident magic." (Quraan 5: 110)
  25. 25. The Saving of Jesus from the Crucifixion and Then His AscensionThe Jews claimed, and still claim, that they crucifiedJesus, but Allaah restrained them from that and savedJesus, peace be upon him, by taking him up to Himself:"And because of their (the Jews) saying (in boast), Wekilled Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, the Messenger ofAllaah, but they killed him not, nor crucified him, butthe resemblance of Jesus was put over another man(and they killed that man), AND THOSE WHO DIFFERTHEREIN ARE FULL OF DOUBTS. They have no(certain) knowledge, they follow nothing butconjecture. For surely, they killed him not (i.e. Jesus, son of Mary)." (Quraan 4: 157)"But Allaah raised him (Jesus) up (with his body andsoul) unto Himself (and he is in the heavens). AndAllaah is Ever All-Powerful, All-Wise."(Qur’aan 4: 158)This was a great honor to Jesus, peace be upon him.
  26. 26. The Descent of JesusProphet Muhammad, peace be upon him, explained thedescent of Jesus before the establishment of the LastHour:"...and he (Jesus) will descend at the white minaret15 inthe Eastern side of Damascus wearing two garmentslightly dyed with saffron and placing his hands on thewings of two Angels. When he would lower his head, there would fall beads of perspiration from his head, and when he would raise it up, beads like pearls wouldscatter from it. Every non-believer who would smellthe odor of his self would die and his breath wouldreach as far as he would be able to see. He would thensearch for him (the false Christ) until he would catchhold of him at the gate of Ludd16 and would killhim...."17He, peace be upon him, also said:"By Him in whose hands is my soul, surely (Jesus), theson of Mary (peace be upon both of them) will shortlydescend amongst you and will judge mankind justly,by the Law of the Quraan (as a just ruler); he willbreak the cross and kill the pigs and there will be noJizya.18 Money will be in abundance so that nobody15. Near the eastern side of the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus.16. This lies within the Israeli occupied land of Palestine. In it is aninternational airport and the city is called Al-Ludd.17. Reported in Saheeh Muslim, V. 4, Hadeeth # 701518. Jizya: a tax imposed on non-Muslims who would keep theirreligion rather than embracing Islaam. This tax will not be acceptedby Jesus, peace be upon him, as all people will be required to embraceIslaam, and there will be no other alternative. It is the religion of all
  27. 27. will accept it, and a single prostration to Allaah (inprayer) will be better than the whole world andwhatever is in it."The narrator of the above saying of the Prophet (praiseand blessing of Allaah be upon him) added: 19"If you wish, you can recite (this verse from theQuraan):‘And there is none of the people of the Scripture (Jewsand Christians), but must believe in him (i.e. Jesus, as aMessenger of Allaah and a human being), before his(Jesus, or a Jews or a Christians) death.20 And on theDay of Resurrection, he (Jesus) will be a witnessagainst them.’" (Quraan 4: 159)Prophets and Messengers and it is the one and only religion acceptedby its Originator, Allaah.19. Saheeh Al-Bukhaari, V.4, Hadeeth # 657.20. "Before his death" has two interpretations: a) before the death ofJesus after his descent from the heavens and after he rules in justicewhen Allah will send a pleasant wind which, as Prophet Muhammad(upon him and Jesus be peace) explained: "would take the life of everyMuslim and only the wicked would survive who would commitadultery like asses and the Last Hour would come to them"-reportedin Saheeh Muslim, V. 4, Hadeeth # 7015, P. 1518.; or b) a Jews or aChristian’s death, at the time of the appearance of the Angel of Deathwhen he will realize that Jesus was not God, or the son of God!
  28. 28. Why is it that Jesus will Rule by the Quraan And Not the Gospel? The essence of Allaah’s Religion revealed to all theProphets and Messengers is one: it calls for the worshipand submission to Allaah alone, avoiding all false deities. This is the meaning of Islaam. This message was in theoriginal Gospel that was revealed to Jesus as well as in allthe original Scriptures before and in the Last Revelation tomankind:"And verily, We have sent among every Ummah(nation, community) a Messenger (proclaiming):"Worship Allaah (alone)," and avoid (or keep awayfrom) Taaghoot (all false deities)." (Quraan 16: 36)"The religion accepted by Allaah is Islaam (submissionof one’s will to Allaah and abiding by His Laws, andkeeping all worship to Him alone)." (Quraan 3: 19)Jesus confirmed the Torah before him, and preached theGospel calling the Children of Israel to submit, as in theTorah, to Allaah alone. He did not call for anything thatcontradicts the Gospel, like Trinity or attributing sons toGod, etc. All of these false concepts were exposed in theLast Revelation, the Quraan, where Allaah stated that Hetook the Covenant from all the Prophets, including Jesus, that:"And (remember) when Allaah took the Covenant ofthe Prophets, saying: Take whatever I gave you fromthe Book and Al-Hikmah (understanding of the Laws ofAllaah, etc.) and afterwards there will come to you aMessenger (Muhammad, peace be upon him) confirmingwhat is with you; you must believe in him and help
  29. 29. him. Allaah said: “Do you agree (to it) and will youtake up My Covenant (which I concluded with you)? They said: We agree. He said: Then bear witness;and I am with you among the witnesses (for this)."(Quraan 3: 81)The Covenant is a testimony to the unified message of allof the Messengers of Allaah. Naturally, Jesus is a followerof Allaah and of His Messages. He abided by theCovenant in which he was told of the coming ofMuhammad (peace be upon him). He brought this news tothe attention of the Children of Israel, hence fulfilling theCovenant, and called his followers to believe and followthe Last Message to mankind, the Qur’aan, when itreaches them:"And (remember) when Jesus, son of Mary, said: OChildren of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allaah untoyou confirming the Torah (which came) before me, andgiving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after mewhose name shall be Ahmed21. But when he (Ahmedi.e. Muhammad, peace be upon him) came to them with21. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: "I have fivenames: I am Muhammad and Ahmed: I am Al-Maahi through whomAllaah will eliminate Al-Kufr (infidelity): I am Al-Hashir who will bethe first to be resurrected, the people being resurrected thereafter;and I am also Al-Aaqib (i.e. there will be no Prophet after him).”-Reported in Saheeh al-Bukhaari, V. 4, Hadeeth # 732. Ahmed literallymeans: "One who praises Allaah more than others." Also it means, the“the praised one.” Prophet Muhammad is foretold in Deut 18: 18, andin the Gospel of St. John (14/16, 25, 26, 27), as the “Prophet tocome”, and the “future Comforter,” respectively. Christiansunderstand that the “Comforter” is the Holy Spirit. However, the HolySpirit is Gabriel, who was supporting and guiding Jesus throughouthis mission. The “Comforter” is a translation from the Greek for theword “Paracletos,” which is a corrupt reading for “Periclytos,” almosta translation of the meaning of “Muhammad” or “Ahmed.”
  30. 30. clear proofs, they said: This is plain magic." (Quraan61: 6).Therefore, Jesus will not rule by other than the Laws ofAllaah, since the last Message of Allaah is the Quraan, and by being a follower of Allaahs Revelation, Jesus willnot call people to ascribe partners to Allaah. He did notcall upon the Jews or Christians to take himself or themonks and rabbis as gods besides Allaah:"They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and theirmonks to be their lords besides Allaah, (and they, theChristians, took as their lord) Messiah, son of Mary, while they (Jews and Christians) were commanded (inthe Torah and the Gospel) to worship none but OneIlaah (God-Allaah), none has the right to beworshipped but He22. Praise and glory be to Him, (farabove is He) from having the partners they associate(with Him)." (Quraan 9: 31)That is why the people of the Book are called to dissociatethemselves from all forms of worship to other than Allaah:"Say (O Muhammad, peace be upon him): "O people ofthe Scripture (Jews and Christians): Come to a wordthat is just between us and you, that we worship none22. While Allaahs Messenger, peace be upon him, was reciting thisverse, Adee bin Haatim (one of the Prophets companions) said: "OAllaahs Messenger! They (Jews and Christians) do not worship them(i.e. the rabbis and monks)." Allaahs Messenger, praise and blessingsof Allaah be upon him, said: "They certainly do. They (i.e. the rabbisand monks) made lawful things as unlawful, and unlawful things aslawful, and they (i.e. Jews and Christians) followed them (i.e. knowingthat the lawful was unlawful and vice versa); and by doing so, theyreally worshipped them."-Narrated by several authorities of Hadeethincluding Imaam Ahmad, At-Tirmidhee, and Ibn Jareer.
  31. 31. but Allaah, and that we associate no partners withHim, and that none of us shall take others as lordsbesides Allaah." (Quraan 3: 64)
  32. 32. What Is Next? This message is an advice to Christians in particular, andits essence is also an address to the followers of beliefsother than Islaam. The Message is that: Prophets,Messengers, saints, righteous men, trees, rivers, the moon, the sun, planets, stars, desire, fire, light, Buddha, Popes, monks, Rabbis, Sheikhs, Krishnas, Temples, Crosses, heroes, men (yellow, black or white), philosophies, emotions, etc. are creation in one form or another. Theyare not self sufficient, and not divine. The righteous in theSight of Allaah are the pious who follow, hope in, love, and fear Allaah and do not ascribe partners to Him inworship. The most noble of men are the Prophets and theirfollowers who submit to the will of Allaah."Say: We believe in Allaah and that which has beensent down to us and that which has been sent down toAbraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and to Al-Asbaat (thetwelve sons of Jacob), and that which has been given toMoses and Jesus (in their original and un-altered forms),and that which has been given to the Prophets fromtheir Rabb. We make no distinction between any ofthem, and to Him we have submitted (in Islaam)."(Quraan 2: 136)The last of those Prophets is Muhammad, peace be uponthem all. Mankind are called to obey Allaah and HisProphet:For the Hereafter, there are glad tidings to the obedientones. Allaah says:
  33. 33. "And whosoever obeys Allaah and His Messenger(Muhammad-peace be upon him) will be admitted toGardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise), to abidetherein, and that will be the great success." (Quraan 4:13)And for those who disobey and transgress, the Messengerbrings them the saying of Allaah:"And whoever disobeys Allaah and His Messenger, and transgresses His limits, He will cast him into theFire, to abide therein, and he shall have a disgracefultorment." (Quraan 4: 14)The glad tidings and warnings brought by the Messengersare key factors that influence the human soul. Naturally, the soul aspires for what is good and likes to drive awayevil. The Messengers enlighten the human soul byinforming it about the great good (i.e. Paradise) that canbe achieved as a result of having the right belief and doingrighteous deeds. The person will then be eager to acquiresuch good. On the other hand, when the soul is informedabout the great harm (i.e. Hell Fire) that may be inflictedupon it if it rejects Allaah and His Message, it may refrainfrom committing what may be hurtful to itself. The gladtiding about the Great Bounties of Allaah is somethingthat brings sweetness to the heart and satisfaction to thesoul, as well as pleasure to our innermost senses. Listen towhat Allaah, the Exalted, says about the Paradise:“(They will be) on thrones woven with gold andprecious stones. Reclining thereon, face to face.Immortal boys will go around them (serving), Withcups, and jugs, and a glass of flowing wine, Wherefromthey will get neither any aching of the head nor anyintoxication. And with fruit that they may choose. And
  34. 34. with the flesh of fowls that they desire. And (there willbe) Hoor (fair females) with wide lovely eyes [as wivesfor Al-Muttaqûn (the pious)]. Like the preserved pearls.A reward for what they used to do. No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor anysinful speech (like backbiting). But only the saying of:Salaam! Salaam! (Greeting with peace) 23! And those onthe Right Hand – how (fortunate) will be those on theRight Hand? (They will be) among thornless lote trees,And among Talh (banana trees) with fruits piled oneabove another, And in shade long-extended, And bywater flowing constantly, And fruit in plenty, Whosesupply is not cut off (by change of season) nor are theyout of reach. And on couches or thrones, raised high.Verily, We have created them (maidens) of specialcreation. And made them virgins. Loving (theirhusbands only), (and) of equal age.” (Quraan 56: 15-37)23. Abu Hurayrah, may Allaah be pleased with him, narrated thatAllaahs Messenger said, "The first group (of people) who will enterParadise will be (glittering) like the moon on a full-moon night. Theywill not spit, or blow their noses or relieve nature. Their utensilstherein will be of gold, and their combs of gold and silver; in theircensers (a vessel in which incense is burned) the aloes wood will beused, and their sweat will smell like musk. Everyone of them will havetwo wives; the marrow of the bones of the wives legs will be seenthrough the flesh, out of excessive beauty. They (the people ofParadise) will neither have difference, nor enmity (hostility) amongstthemselves: their hearts will be as if one heart, and they will beglorifying Allaah in the morning and in the afternoon." (Saheeh al-Bukhaari, V.4, Hadeeth # 468)
  35. 35. And Contemplate About Those in the House of Misery: Hell"And, those of the Left Hand, who will be thecompanions of the Left Hand? In fierce hot wind andboiling water, And Shadow of black Smoke. (ThatShadow) neither cool nor (even) good. Verily, beforethat, they were indulged in luxury." (Qur’aan 56: 41-45)They preferred the worship of others than Allaah overtheir True Rabb and Creator. They set up rivals withAllaah. This is the result of their ungratefulness, underestimation, and ill-opinion of Allaah:"Then moreover, verily, you the erring, the deniers (ofthe Resurrection)! You verily will eat of the trees ofZaqqoom (a tree in Hell having a loathsome smell andvery bitter fruit!) Then you will fill your belliestherewith, And drink boiling water on top of it, So youwill drink (that) like thirsty camels! That will be theirentertainment on the Day of Recompense!" (Quraan56: 51-56)
  36. 36. A Final NoteI ask you to be fair, and do not let todays hate directedagainst Islaam and the wrongdoings by some Muslimsstand between you and knowing about Islaam.24The real issue is the salvation of man. Each will be heldresponsible for his deeds. The Religion of Allaah iscomprehensive; it deals justly with both, the non-believersand the wrong-doers.Allaah is the All-Just and All-Wise. All mankind is calledto submit to Him Alone. He does not intend confusion forHis creation: He does not tell different nations in anyplace and at any time to worship creation in any form orshape. He wants mankind to free itself from worshippingother than Him. This is the meaning of Islaam and itrepresents the natural inclination on which man is created. On the Day of Judgment, people will be judged accordingto their acceptance or rejection of Allaah’s Commandwhich came in the Last Revelation, the Qur’aan.24. There is a great deal of oppression and injustice done to Muslimsin many part of the World. Little is said about the terror done to them. However, when any wrong committed by an individual Muslim or agroup of Muslims, all the news center on “Islaamic Terrorism”! Evenbefore investigations are completed, the news media bring their“think-tanks” and start their “speculations” about the “looks of thepeople” and whether they have “Middle Eastern Features”! Many actsof terror were done and still being committed by Christian, Jewish, orBuddhist individuals and/or groups or states. We do not hear the cryabout “Jewish Terrorism,” “Christian Terrorism,”, or “BuddhistTerrorism,”...Only when it comes to Islaam and Muslims, we see thelabeling headlines read “Islaamic this and that”! Remember the IRA?Did you ever hear of “Roman Catholic Terrorism”? Islaam does notcondone any act of terrorism. The religion of Allaah does not condoneinjustice from anyone, Muslim or non-Muslim.
  37. 37. You may be able to find a copy of the translated meaningof the Qur’aan in your language at a Book Store, PublicLibrary, University Library, the Internet, etc. In case youcould not find one, please write to “King Fahd NobleQur’aan Printing Complex. P.O. Box 3561, Al-MadeenahAl-Munawarah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.” 25Finally, in case you wonder why some statementsattributed to the Bible were cited while knowing thatalterations and modifications took place therein, thenthis is explained as follows:1. The Islaamic position regarding the Bible is that itcontains truth and falsehood. The Criteria to find out thetruth is to check the Revelation after it, i.e. the Qur’aanwhere this is clearly stated. So whatever agrees with theQur’aan, then it is true, otherwise it is not.2. Due to this mixing of truth and falsehood, Allaahabrogated the Bible and the Torah as well, making theQur’aan the final Testimony until the Day of Resurrection.3. Hence, the Quotations made either are in agreementwith the Qur’aan or the Qur’aan stands in correction ofthem. And to Allaah we shall all return to account....Saaleh As-Saaleh25. 39. 39. APPENDIX JESUS AND MUHAMMAD (Peace be upon them) IN THE BIBLE* Biblical Evidence of Jesus being a Servant of God and having no share in Divinity By, Dr. MUHAMMAD TAQEEUDDEEN AL-HILAALI, Ph.D. Formerly Professor of Islaamic Faith and Teachings, Islaamic University, Madeenah Munawwarah* This article, originally entitled “Jesus and Muhammad (peace beupon them) in the light of the Bible and the Qur’aan” was extractedfrom “Interpretation of the meanings of The Noble Qur’aan in theEnglish language” published by the King Fahd Noble Qur’aanPrinting Complex, Al-Madeenah Al-Munawarah, Kingdom of SaudiArabia. 40. 40. INTRODUCTIONAll praise be to the One to Whom all Dignity, Honourand Glory are due; the Unique with perfect attributes,Who begets not, nor is He begotten. He has no equal butHe is the Almighty, Omnipotent. He sent HisMessengers and Prophets to guide humanity towardsmonotheism; to worship Him Alone, the only OneWorthy of worship, and to warn them of the eternal direconsequences of polytheism; associating partners withOne Allaah and the worship of creatures.Peace and Blessings of Allaah be upon all the Prophetsand Messengers, especially on Muhammad, the last ofthe Prophets, and on all who follow him in righteousnessuntil the Day of Recompense.Christianity: Men Without Religion; Islaam: ReligionWithout MenA Muslim never lacks proofs about the purity andtruthfulness of his religion, but what he lacks are thosetruthful brothers who stand for Allaah and His Prophet(peace be upon him) testifying to the truth. Indeed, inthis age, Islaam is a religion without men (custodiansand propagators) whereas Christianity is men withouta religion; yet, by their endeavor, adventurous spirit, patience and monetary contributions they are able tofalsify truth and make falsehood appear true. In thismaterialistic age most of humanity have become slavesto wealth, fashions, and mansions. There is none worthy of worship but Allaah and in Him(Alone) do I put my trust, and towards Him amI destined.
  41. 41. Jesus and the Devil in the BibleIn the New Testament of the Bible, in the fourth chapterof the Gospel according to Matthew, the sixth andseventh verses clearly indicate that Jesus is an obedientmortal and God is the Master and Lord according to hissaying in the seventh verse:"It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord, thy God."In this chapter we read that the Devil actually carried theMessiah, and took him from place to place. How can the Devil carry God? Glory be to Allaah; He isabove such blasphemy! Then the Devil orders him to prostrate before him andworship him, even tempting him withworldly possessions. How can the Devil even dare suchan audacity with God? When the Devil wanted Jesusto comply with his orders, he (Jesus) replied by sayingthat it was written (in the previous Books):"Thou shalt worship the Lord, thy God; And Himonly shalt thou serve." Matthew 4:10.
  42. 42. Children of GodJesus never called himself Son of God as far as I knowbut he used to call himself the Son of Man (ref. Mark2:10) although he heard himself being called by thatname he did not object as assumed in the Bible and didnot consider the title exclusively for him.According to the Biblical term in the Old and NewTestaments, every God- fearing righteous personis called Son of God. In Matthew 5:9 we read:"Blessed are the peace-makers, for they shall becalled the children of God."In Matthew 5:45 –"That ye may be children of your Father which is inheaven..."
  43. 43. God the FatherIn Matthew 5:48 –"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father whichis in heaven is perfect."In Matthew 6:1 –"... otherwise ye have no reward of your Fatherwhich is in heaven."In Matthew 7:21 –"Not every one that sayeth unto me (Jesus), Lord,Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: buthe that doeth the will of my Father, which is inheaven."N.B. The word Lord here was translated as Rabb in theArabic version of the Bible so that people may beconvinced that Jesus is God! But if one studies the restof the verse, one will note that the verse bears testimonyto the subservience (to Gods Will) of the Messiah(Jesus). Therefore the correct translation should be:"Not every one that sayeth to me, O my Master, shallenter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth thewill of my Father which is in heaven."It is obvious from the above readings from the Bible that
  44. 44. the term Father is used for God in numerous places inthe Bible. It is never used exclusively for the Messiah(Jesus). In Matthew 11:25 –"At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank Thee,O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, becauseThou hast hid these things from the wise and prudentand has revealed them unto babes."
  45. 45. Jesus the WorshipperIn Matthew 14:23 –"And when he had sent the multitudes away, he wentup into a mountain apart to pray....."I say: If he (Jesus) is God or a part of God then why didhe pray? In fact, prayer is always from a submitting, needy and dependent one for the Mercy of AlmightyAllaah as mentioned in the Quraan. (V. 35:15):-"O mankind! it is you who stand in need of Allaahbut Allaah is Rich (Free of all wants and needs),Worthy of all praise" (35:15).And in (V. 19:93) of Quraan:-"There is none in the heavens and the earth butcomes unto the Most Beneficent (Allaah) as a slave."
  46. 46. A Biblical StoryIn Matthew 15:22-28 –"And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of thesame coasts and cried unto him, saying, Have mercyon me, O Lord, thou son of David: my daughter isgrievously vexed with a devil. But he answered hernot a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying; Send her away, for she crieth after us. Buthe answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lostsheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, helpme. But he answered and said, It is not meet to takethe childrens bread and to cast it to dogs. And shesaid, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs whichfall from their masters table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thouwilt. And her daughter was made whole from thatvery hour.In this story about a woman from Canaan there arenoteworthy points:(1) Lack of mercy and love charged against Jesus (if theincident is reported correctly).(2) Degraded discrimination in regard to the uplifting ofhis tribe and not for the others.
  47. 47. (3) Tribal pride of decadence and prejudice againstothers and calling them dogs.(4) An ignorant polytheist woman debated with him andwon him over.
  48. 48. Jesus: A Prophet of AllaahIn Matthew 19:16-17 –"And behold, one came and said unto him, Goodmaster, what good thing shall I do that I mayhave eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callestthou me good? (There is) none good but one,(i.e.) God, but if thou wilt enter into life, keep thecommandments. "In the above verses we note this acknowledgment of hissubmissiveness (to Allaahs Will). In Matthew 21:45-46 –"And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heardhis parable, they perceived that he spoke of them. Butwhen they sought to lay hands on him, they fearedthe multitude because they took him for a Prophet."Here it is proved that all those who believed in Jesusduring his life-time did not believe in him being God orthe Son of God or one in the doctrine of Trinity; but theybelieved in him as being a Prophet only. This is indeedone of the strongest points of evidence against those whobelieve in the Divinity of Jesus (Incarnation of God) ifonly they pondered.
  49. 49. Jesus: A Servant of AllaahIn Matthew 23:8 –But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your master, even Jesus, and all ye are brethren."Here it is clearly proved that Jesus was servant ofAllaah, and that there is only One Master and Heis Allaah. In the Arabic version of the Bible this versehas been translated so that Jesus is meant to be themaster whereas the English rendering is nearer theoriginal sense. In Matthew 23:9 –"And call no man your father upon the earth: for oneis your Father which is in heaven."From this you will note that fatherhood and Sonship ismeant to be the relationship between the Lord and Hisservants: it is meant in a general sense and notspecifically for Jesus. In Matthew 24:36 –"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, notthe angels of heaven, but my Father only."This is a definite proof that the Final Hour is unknown toany but Allaah, thus Jesus knowledge is imperfect like
  50. 50. all other men; Allaah Alone is All-Knowing,Omniscient.In Matthew 26:39 –"And he (Jesus) went a little farther, and fell on hisface and prayed, saying, O my Father, if itbe possible, let this cup pass from me: neverthelessnot as I will, but as Thou wilt. "We note here that the person speaking is unaware ofAllaahs Will and realizes the fact that he is a servant ofAllaah. He (Allaah) Alone can cause the change.
  51. 51. The Compilation of the BibleIn Matthew 27:7-8 –"And they took counsel and bought with them thepotters field to bury strangers in. Whereforethat field was called the Field of Blood, unto thisday."From these verses we understand that the Bible (the NewTestament) was not written during Jesus life-time butlong after the occurrence of the events described, havingbeen retained in the memory of the people. In Matthew 27:46 –"And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loudvoice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? (My God,My God, why hast thou forsaken me?)"This is according to their (Christians) assumption thatJesus cried in a loud voice saying the above words whilehe was being crucified. This is a great insult as suchwords could only come from unbelievers in Allaah.Further, it is incredible that such words should come outfrom a Prophet of Allaah because Allaah never breaksHis Promise and His Prophets never complained againstHis Promise.
  52. 52. Jesus: Preacher of Monotheism (Tawheed)In John 17:3 –"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thouhas sent."In Mark 12:28-30 –"And one of the scribes came, and having heard themreasoning together, and perceiving that hehad answered them well, asked him, Which is thefirst commandment of all? And Jesus answered him:The first of all the commandments is; hear O Israel, the Lord thy God is One Lord: and thou shalt lovethe Lord, thy God with all thy heart, and with all thysoul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:this is the first commandment.’”In Mark 12:32 –"And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thouhast said the truth: for there is One God; and there isnone other but He. "In Mark 12:34 –"...he (Jesus) said unto him, Thou art not far fromthe kingdom of God... "In these verses, Jesus (peace be upon him) himself hadtestified that Allaah is the One God, there is none other
  53. 53. than Him, and that whoever believes in His Oneness, heis near the Kingdom of Allaah. Therefore whoeverassociates partners with Allaah or believes in the Trinityis far away from the Kingdom of Allaah, and whoever isfar away from the Kingdom of Allaah he is the enemy ofAllaah. In Matthew 24:36 –"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, notthe angels of the heaven, but my Father only."I say: A similar text was quoted from Matthew which isexactly as proclaimed by the Quraan in that none knowswhen the Hour will come except Allaah. This establishesthe fact that Jesus was subservient to Allaah and that hehad no share in Divinity: that he was an incarnation ofGod, was an innovation by the people of Canaan. In John 20:16 –"Jesus said unto her, Mary. She turned herself, andsayeth unto him, Rabboni, which is to say, Master,Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not: For I am not yetascended to my Father; but go to my brethren, andsay unto them, I ascend unto my Father and yourFather; and to my God and your God.Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that shehas seen the Lord, and that He had spoken thesethings unto her."In the above narrative Jesus clearly testified that Allaahis his God and their God, making no difference between
  54. 54. him and them in the worship of the One Allaah.Whoever believes that Jesus is God hasindeed blasphemed against Allaah and betrayed theMessiah (Jesus) and all the Prophets and Messengers ofAllaah.
  55. 55. Biblical prophecies on the advent of Muhammad (peace be upon him)In John 4:15-16“If you love me, keep my commandments. And I willpray the Father and He shall give you anotherComforter that he may abide for you forever.”Muslim theologians have said that “another Comforter” isMuhammad, the Messenger of Allah; and him to “abideforever” means the perpetuity of his laws and way of lifeand the Book (Qur’an), which was revealed, to him.In John 15:26-27“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will sendunto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify ofme: And ye also shall bear witness, because ye havebeen with me from the beginning.”In John 16:5-8“But now I go my way to Him that sent me and none ofyou asketh me ‘whither goest thou?’ But because Ihave said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled youheart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; for if I go notaway, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if Idepart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come,he will reprove the world of sin, and approverighteousness and judgment.”
  56. 56. In John 16:12-14“I have yet many things to say unto you, but youcannot bear them now. How be it when he, the Spirit oftruth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for heshall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shallhear, that shall he speak; and he will show you thingsto come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive ofmine, and he shall show it unto you.”In John 16:16“A little while and ye shall not see me: and again alittle while, ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.”Muslim theologians have stated that the person who isdescribed by Jesus to come after him – in the above verses– does not comply with any other person but Muhammad(peace be upon him) the Messenger of Allaah. This‘person’ whom Jesus prophesied will come after him iscalled in the Bible ‘Paracletos’ This word was deleted bylater interpreters and translators and changed at times to‘Spirit of Truth’, and at other times, to ‘Comforter’ andsometimes to ‘Holy Spirit’. The original word is Greekand its meaning is ‘one whom people praise exceedingly.’The sense of word is applicable to the word ‘Muhammad’(in Arabic).
  57. 57. Finality of the Proofs on the Fabrication of the Story of the Cross1) The Bible testifies to the fact that Jesus was knownamong the Jews; he used to preach and deliver sermons inthe Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem. It was therefore, unnecessary to hire a Jew for thirty pieces of silver todirect them to him as related in Mathew.2) It is related that one of the twelve dispels named JudasIscariot was hired to direct the Jews to Jesus. They thensentenced him after which Judas was greatly ashamed anddissociated himself from their act and then committedsuicide. All this took place within twenty-four hours. Thecontradictions are obvious.3) The clearest proof, which alone is sufficient to discreditthis story, is when the Jews passed the sentence of deathagainst Jesus and intended to get the approval of thegovernor, Pontius Pilate.“And Jesus stood before the governor: The governorasked him, saying, ‘Art thou the king of the Jews!’And Jesus said unto him, ‘Thou sayeth (sayest)’: Andwhen he was accused of (by) the chief priests andelders. He answered nothing. Then said Pilate untohim, ‘Hearest thou not how many things they witnessagainst thee?’ And he answered him never (to) aword.” Mathew 27:11-14The Christians will interpret the above verse to mean thatJesus wanted to die on the cross for the redemption ofmankind and for the forgiveness of their sins: if so, then
  58. 58. why did he ask to turn away that cup from him (i.e.death)? Why did he cry out while on the Cross (as theyassume): “O Lord, why hast thou forsaken me?” Howcould he have remained silent when the truth was beingchallenged? He was known for his soul-inspiring sermonschallenging the learned Jewish Rabbis. No sane personcan believe in this. If the story of the Cross-is disprovedthen the very foundation on which Christianity is based, will be demolished.Muslims believe that Jesus was not crucified by the Jewsas revealed in the Qur’aan by Allaah in a crystal clearmanner:“And because of their saying (in boast):’We killedmessiah Jesus, son of Mary, the Messenger of Allaah’;-but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but theresemblance of Jesus was put over another man (andthey killed that man), and those who differ therein arefull of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, theyfollow nothing but conjecture. For surely, they killedhim not (i.e., Jesus, son of Mary). But Allaah raisedhim (Jesus) up (with his body and soul) unto Himself(and he Jesus peace be upon him is in the heavens)..And Allaah is Ever All-Powerful, All-Wise.” (Qur’aan4:157-158)The Jews themselves, together with the entire Christianworld, believe that he was crucified. As proofs againsttheir views and to prove the truth of the Muslim verdictthrough the Bible, I prepared the following set ofquestions based on the Book of Mathew in the NewTestament of Bible. (Chapter 26 and 27):
  59. 59. 1) Did those who captured Jesus (according to theirassumption) know him in person? Or did they not knowhim?Mathew testifies that they did not know him.2) Was it during the day or night that he was captured?Mathew says – it was during the night.3) Who was the one directed them to him?Mathew says: He was one of his twelve disciples calledJudas Iscariot.4) Did he direct them free of charge or for a fixed reward, which they specified, for him?Mathew says: He directed them to him for a fixed rewardof thirty pieces of silver.5) What was the condition of Jesus during that night?Mathew says: He was fearful and prostrated in prayersaying: “O God, if it is possible for You to let his cuppass from me, then let it pass.” It is incredible that suchwords could come from a believer in God, let alone aProphet of God, because all believers believe that God haspower over all things.6) What was the condition of his eleven disciples?Mathew says: Sleep overcame them that night togetherwith their teacher (according to their assumption) out offear.
  60. 60. 7) Was Jesus contented with their condition?Mathew says (verse 40-46): He was not satisfied. He usedto come to them to wake them up saying: “Watch andpray, that ye enter not into temptation; the spiritindeed is willing but the flesh is weak.” Then he wouldcome again to find them asleep and he would again wakethem up and say the same thing. This weakness could nothave been spoken of righteous pupils even if they werepupils of an ordinary pious teacher, let alone the disciplesof Jesus, son of Mary.8) Did they help him when those ruffians captured him?Mathew says: “They forsook him and fled.”9) Did Jesus have confidence in his disciples that night?Mathew says: Jesus informed them that they would allforsake him. Then Jesus said unto them: “Verily I sayunto thee that this night before the cock crows, thoushall deny me – thrice.” Peter said unto him, “AlthoughI should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee.”Likewise also said all the disciples. And so it happened.10) How did those ruffians capture him?Mathew says: They came to him with swords and stavesafter they were directed to him by a Jew, then theycaptured him as described in verse 57:“And they that had laid hold on Jesus, led him away toCaliphas the high priest, where the elders wereassembled.”
  61. 61. There they passed the sentence of death on him. Theruffians then took him away, spat on his face and struckhim with their hands after which they stripped him of hisclothes and clad him in scarlet robes, then placed a crownof thorns on his head and took him about, teasing andmocking him. They said to him: ‘You are the king ofIsrael according to your claim.’ They severely degradedhim.11) Who finally decided to pass the death sentence againsthim?Mathew says: He was Pontius Pilate, a Greek Roman, whowas at that time the governor of Palestine.12) When the ruffians brought that man before thegovernor and informed him that the priest of the Jewspassed the sentence of death by crucifixion according totheir law (Torah), did he believe in them withoutinvestigation?Mathew says: He did not believe them but asked that man:“Is it true what they have said?” He remained silent. The question was repeated and he continued to remainsilent. He remained silent in view of the truth; it wasessential for him even if he was not a Prophet to clarifythe truth and deny the false accusation f the Jews. Thegovernor’s wife went to the governor and she said to him:“Have thou nothing to do with that just man? For Ihave suffered many things this day in dream becauseof him.”The Bible states that Jesus delivered lengthy speeches tothe Jews rebuking and warning them, which amounted todefaming them. Then why was he silent that day? The
  62. 62. governor’s intentions for asking him were to stand for thetruth.13) How was he crucified according to their assumption?Mathew says: They crucified him between two thievesboth of whom abused him by saying to him, “If you aretruthful save yourself.”14) This was a great calamity. What did he say while onthe cross (according to their assumption)?Mathew says (27:46)Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lamasabachthani? (That is to say) my God, my God, whyhave Thou forsaken me?”This is a blatant declaration of disbelief according to alltheological authorities. Whoever relates it to a Prophet is adisbeliever according to the revealed religions.Almighty Allaah, in the Qur’aan warns, the Jews and theChristians against their blasphemy; that Jesus is anincarnation of God (Allaah) or the son of God (Allaah) orin rejecting him totally; and that they must believe in himas a Messenger of Allaah only:“And there is none of the people of the Scripture (Jewsand Christians) but must believe in him (Jesus, son ofMary, as only a Messenger of Allaah and a humanbeing) before his (Jesus peace be upon him or a Jew’sor a Christian’s) death (at the time of the appearanceof the angel of death). And on the Day of Resurrection,he (Jesus) will be a witness against them.” (Qur’aan4:159)
