  5. 5. The Biblical Way<br />The emphasis is on God and His sovereignty.<br />Book of Proverbs emphasises God, God’s choices, God’s sovereignty and God purposes. <br />Commit tothe LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.<br />

Proverbs 16:1-4 <br />1To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue. <br />2All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord. <br />3Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. <br />4The Lord works out everything for his own ends— even the wicked for a day of disaster.<br />

  8. 8. Prov 16:1 – Our Responsibility<br />“Plans” in Hebrew = plans we make after looking at all issues, options, responsibilities and consequences. <br />Lesson : It is God who ultimately establishes and brings our plans to fruition. <br />
  9. 9. Prov 16:2 – Our Motives<br />God weighs our motives, intents and purposes. <br />Lesson : God knows our hearts and He will deal with impurities to cleanse us and make us holy. <br />
  10. 10. Prov 16:3 – Our Trust<br />“Commit” means to entrust something to someone else.<br />Plan responsibly AND recognise and rest in the sovereignty and rulership of God.<br />
  11. 11. Prov 16:3 – Our Trust<br />God’s promise :<br />Recognise His sovereignty and<br />Trust in His goodness… THEN<br />He will guide our steps and establish our plans <br />In accordance with His purposes<br />Lesson : Move from a me-centred mindset to a God-centred mindset.<br />

Prov 16:4 – God’s Purposes<br />God has a purpose for our lives.<br />Lesson : Our plans and decisions must be made in submission to God’s purposes.<br />God’s purposes include:<br />Bringing glory to God<br />Walking righteously <br />Using our gifts and talents<br />Being salt and light in society<br />
