  11. 11. Meeting Jesus The risen Lord journeys with us • Jesus came alongside those travellers and had the patience to listen to their story and their sorrow • The church embodies that care • We are to care for and come alongside each other in the journey of faith.

Meeting Jesus The risen Lord meets us in worship Word • The apostles continued to make Jesus known through the ministry of the Word. • “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinth 15:3-4) Table • “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42) • “The Lord Jesus … took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it” (1 Corinth 11:23-24).

Meeting Jesus The risen Lord waits to transform us • To make known to the world our risen Lord, so that the world might be transformed. • Removing the veil • “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18).

  17. 17. Open our eyes, Lord Come - expect to meet the risen Lord today • Who moved away? God or us? • Come to worship each Sunday expecting to meet the risen Lord. • Jesus waits to meet us in the power of the Holy Spirit to transform our lives.
