What’s this ? ogr2gui : application used to convert geospatial data. It is based on ogr2ogr ogr2ogr : command line utility from « Geospatial Data Abstraction Library » (GDAL) – gdal.org OGR supports over 34 vector data formats including : ESRI Shapefile, GeoDatabase and ArcSDE PostgreSQL (PostGIS) Oracle Spatial Mapinfo (.tab and .mid/mif) KML GML GeoJSON Geoconcept (.gxt)

Why ? ogr2gui was initially developed to meet specific needs : Offer « graphic » alternative to ogr2ogr; command line syntax is often an obstacle for users who are unfamiliar with this kind of operation Offer a simple and user-friendly tool that fits 90% of users’ needs ; i.e convert from one format to another (A B) Offer an alternative to « commercial » products (more sophisticated…and more $$$)
