  • There is a fair degree of cynicism from within big companies about their CSR strategy and initiatives. Thinking employees often doubt their company's 'corporate-shmorporate' sustainability plan - but this rarely leak outwards.

    Which is why the debate needs to be tackled from the 'outside-in'.

  • 2. Will embracing stakeholder engagement through social media drive corporates to be more sustainable?
  • 3. engagement is a platitude that avoids issues of power
  • 4. sustainability that doesn't challenge core business values is superficial
  • 5. it’s too late for cluetrain conversations won’t solve crises
  • 6. social media is surfacing social deficit
  • 7. bankers bonuses are based on the invisible labour of women, carers, migrant workers
  • 8. the real social is social capital and the core economy (people and planet)
  • 9. corporates & NGOs see themselves at the centre,surrounded by buzzing stakeholders
  • 10. but digital gives people the chance to socialise solutions
  • 11. it’s not about confrontation or collaboration; the keyword is ‘construct’
  • 12. Social Innovation Camp builds web-based solutions to social problems
  • 13. Digital gives us the means to construct alternatives – like direct democracy...
  • 14. So what can companies do?
  • 15. "first, do no harm"
