      • achieve text books to be loan to
      • students
      • NUTP proposed free textbooks for
      • teachers’ children
      • Followed by proposal for free textbooks
      • for all children from Level 1 to Level 11
      • of public schools
      • Benefited 5 Million students
      • High income parents may opt to buy
      • text books for their children
    • Technical to Vocational Education
      • Education International policy to
      • enhance Vocational Education
      • NUTP lobby the same policy
      • through the media
      • During the announcement of 11 th
      • grade public school exam results in
      • Year 2006 group of students did not
      • perform well
      • Public concerned on students future
      • and the issue was highly debated
      • NUTP proposed weaker students
      • should be given opportunity to go
      • to Vocational schools
      • Submitted comprehensive working
      • paper and discuss with the Government
      • The idea was accepted
      • Year 2010/2011 all Technical Schools
      • converted to Vocational Schools to
      • cater the needs in the world
      • - to produce high skill workers
      • - prepare them for the job market
      • Reproductive & Health Education
      • We were strongly against Government
      • forcing teachers to teach sex education
      • as a subject. Our persistent request
      • yield the result.
      • Finally the Government replaced Sex
      • Education with Reproductive & Health
      • Education due to pressure from the
      • Union and Religious Group.
      • The new subject consist topics such as:
      • Family Health Education/Sexuality
      • (Understanding sexuality &
      • (Self protection knowledge)
      • Psychosocial Competent Knowledge
      • For Protections Against HIV and AIDS
      • Family Health Education/Sexuality
      • (Module 1-Physical Aspect)
    • - Family Health Education/Sexuality (Module 2- Social Aspect) - Family Health Education/Sexuality (Module 3- Gender) - Family Health Education/Sexuality (Module 4- Inflicted Diseases) - Family Health Education/Sexuality (Module 5- HIV/Aids)
      • No School Fees For Student
      • NUTP advocate Free Education For All
      • NUTP request for No Fee Pay for
      • all students
      • Pre-School Education
      • Aligned with the Education Policy to
      • develop Pre-School Education
      • NUTP lobby & supported the
      • Government to implement pre-school
      • education for all
      • 2010 - 734 pre-schools classes
      • 2011 - 1700 pre-schools classes
    • ADVOCATES FOR THE CHANGES IN THE TEACHING PROFESSION NUTP ADVOCATES
      • To achieve Quality Teachers & Quality
      • Education NUTP wants education
      • opportunities to be given to teachers
      • during their service
      • Non graduate teachers are given loan
      • or scholarship to further their studies
      • through Distant Learning Program
      • (OUM) in order to achieve 100%
      • graduates teachers in Primary &
      • Secondary schools by the year 2015
      • G raduate teachers able to upgrade their
      • academic qualification to PhD/Master
      • 2010 – Secondary School - 70% graduates
      • Primary School - 40% graduates
      • NUTP strongly advocates that teachers
      • with degree should be paid better
      • salary grade scale than non-graduates
      • Year 2004 NUTP successful convinced the
      • Government to recognized OUM degree
      • teachers to be appointed to the graduates
      • scales with better salary and grade
      • Since then all teachers who further their
      • study through distance learning ( OUM)
      • will be automatically emplaced into
      • graduate scales.
      • Malaysia has;
      • 10 thousand schools
      • 430 thousand teachers
      • 40 thousand promotional post
      • A teacher who starts of as a teacher will
      • retire as an original classroom teacher
      • without any promotion opportunities
      • through out the entire service.
      Limited Promotional Oppotunities
      • NUTP advocates strongly to the
      • Government through negotiation
      • Great opportunity for original
      • classroom teacher to enjoy the
      • promotion grade salary but remain
      • as original class room teacher
      • Starts as a teacher
      • 1 st year 10 years 10 years
      • (+1 higher grade) (++grade)
      • Benefited 60% the original classroom
      • teachers
      • To support the Government in
      • introduction of Teachers Professional
      • Standards to achieve quality education
      • & quality teachers
      • NUTP carried out online surveys
      • NUTP assisted in the surveys & research
      • Round table discussions
    • Professional Teachers Standard (SGM)
      • Practice & Values based on Teachers
      • Training culture, profession conducts
      • and values in curriculum
      • Teachers must acquire & master sound knowledge to improve teaching &
      • learning implementation
      • Teaching & Learning skills with
      • variable approaches, methods and
      • techniques of integrating analyst skills,
      • information and communication
      • technology skills, facilitator skills and
      • assessment and evaluation skills
