Students at Minzu University, China (MUC) are graduate students preparing to teach Chinese as a Foreign Language in a two-year Master’s program. The new program with URI would allow them to complete a joint Master’s degree with one year in China and one year in the United States. The students from MUC would arrive at URI soon after their first year in China ends at the end of June. Some of the students would attempt to obtain Rhode Island certification. They would need to pass Praxis I and the Principles of Learning and Teaching prior to student teaching as well as successfully complete all coursework to be recommended for certification.
