  • 1. While sites like Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter are used by people of all ages, beliefs, and geographical regions, how we choose to use these platforms can be rather . . . limited. In the spirit of science, we decided to categorize the primary types of people you’re most likely to encounter on social media. While our list isn’t a comprehensive analysis on the sociology of social media, it encompases the majority of people who regularly update their accounts. Have you seen any of these folks in your news feed lately?
  • 2. The Food Documentarian is determined to post a picture of every local, organic, gluten-free, carbon-neutral, sustainable meal they ever eat. Sample Post
  • 3. TMI? Never! The Oversharer doesn’t believe in privacy, even if the rest us would prefer it if they did. Sample Post
  • 4. Did you know that those clowns in Washington are mucking everything up? The Political Pontificator sure does, and this person will give you daily updates on who they think is responsible for ruining America. Sample Post
  • 5. Always ready with a pun or a witticism, The Comedian fancies themselves the life of the social media party. Sample Post

  • 7. Thanks to the Motivational Speaker, a lot more people now know they should dance as if no one is watching. While their quotes may not always make sense, at least they take a “can do” attitude about life. Sample Post
  • 8. To the Casanova, all of Facebook is one big singles bar. Sample Post
  • 9. Do you know what sucks? Everything. From the looks of the Drama Royalty’s feed, their life is a never-ending soap opera, complete with backstabbings, lost loves, and family hardships. Sample Post
  • 10. The Lovebird was once a separate, independent person. Then that special someone showed up and now every post is a different expression of their love or a picture of them together. Sample Post
  • 11. The Family Fellow has a great job, a loving spouse, accomplished children, and a beautiful home. They basically exist to make you feel worse about your life. Sample Post
  • 12. To The Trivial Updater, there’s nothing so boring or unimportant in their life that it’s unworthy of being shared with the entire world Sample Post
  • 13. The Liker rarely posts any of their own content, and you may not even talk to them on a regular basis. But if you update your profile, you can bet that you’ll get a like within minutes.
  • 14. The troll pushes everyone’s buttons with provocative posts and comments, and their sole intention is to start a fight (and hope things get ugly). Sample Post
  • 15. Gym Rats are the guys or girls who find it necessary to let the whole world know every single time they’re at the gym (which is usually every day). Sample Post
