Art of building a comprehensive IP strategy & effective management of IPThis session will focus on the importance of building a comprehensive IP strategy that is aligned with a company’sbusiness goals. Building a successful strategy requires knowing the answers to some key questions: a. What makes patents valuable?. b. What role do patents play in achieving key business goals? c. What are the key strategic planning inquiries to make to build a successful IP strategy? d. What are the “new” issues (e.g., NPEs, Industry Standards, America Invents Act) in patent strategy? Obtaining valuable IP protectionThis session will be interactive, engaging the participants with exercises focused on identifying key concepts andinquiries to be made in obtaining valuable patents. Best practices of creating IP eco-system within an organizationThis session will provide practical examples for implementing an IP strategy. Topics will include: a. How world class organizations create IP eco-systems and invest wisely b. Technology startups / Individuals – Best practices to build from scratch ( examples of how companies managed and won court cases against large firms, like the ‘Intermittent Wiper – Case against Ford (Movie –Flash of genius) c. Driving innovation through a patent system within an organization d.
