Alan Rankins, National President, Australian Industry and Defence Network (AIDN) delivered this presentation at the 2014 ADM Congress. Event attendees were able to hear presentations from senior government ministers and defence officials with a focus on the theme 'What does government want of industry?'

The Congress will connected industry delegates to government ministers and Department of Defence Personnel as well as speakers from Prime contractors and SMEs. A diverse program of speeches, panel discussions and workshops addressed key defence developments, capability innovations, project management, defence procurement and planning for the future. AIDN Representation of SME Views to Support Defence     AIDN has continued representation on various Defence Forums, including the Ai Group Defence Council, Capability Development Advisory Forum (CDAF), Defence Industry Innovation Board, Future Submarine Industry Skills Plan (FISP), etc. AIDN provides collated and clear SME feedback on draft Defence policies State Chapters act as a rallying point for the various state based Industry Organisations involved in Defence industry such as councils etc. AIDN National works with the National Joint Defence Industry Organisations to develop the Defence industry’s key messages to government.

AIDN – Optimising Business for Defence SMEs    Clustering & collaboration is a critical part of Australian Industry competing in the globalising Defence procurement industry AIDN members are involved in a number of global Aerospace and Defence projects AIDN has also signed a number of MOUs with key industry associations around the world to open collaboration with our members
  • 6. AIDN – Optimising Business for Defence SMEs AIDN’s position: 1. Value for Money to take into account National Interest 2. Support full definition of PIC and SIC 3. Recognise Industry as a fundamental input to Capability. Map it against PICs and SICs in both Acquisition & Sustainment 4. Prompt and Effective Action required 5. Strongly support policy to enforce AIC Plans 6. Appoint an Independent Defence Industry Advocate
