What makes a balanced diet?In order to keep as healthy as possible it is a good idea to eat sensibly and to include lots of different types of food. The NHS website (2010) states “A healthy diet is one that is balanced. This means eating the right amount of food for how active you are, and eating a range of food from the five main food groups. These are: carbohydrates, which contain lots of energy and nutrients and are found in starchy foods, such as bread, pasta and potatoes , protein, which helps the body to grow and repair itself (is found in meat, fish, beans and eggs) fruit and vegetables , milk and dairy foods and foods that are high in fat and sugar” NHS (2010) What is a healthy balanced diet ?
