    • Iran is one of the world’s oldestcultural civilizations, with historydating to 7000 BC. It is rich in artsand cultural heritage resources(including manuscripts, works of artand artifacts).Integrated access to the contents ofthe Old Persian is an importantcultural concern, and many centershave the responsibilities andcapabilities to realize this importantinitiative.
    •  However, Iranian users seem yetto have access to the navigationand content intended fordifferent searches on varioussites. based on demands on digitalheritage resources for usage preventing duplication of digitalcopies to set the context through whichusers can search across all thecontent they need for the protection of the rightsof authors and publishers
    •  Core (12)Core members participate and interact with a number ofowners which have the resources in the country. Themembers decide about public policies and theconsortiums members. Members (17)All those which have shared their content of resources withNational Content Consortium, are members of theConsortium. Consortium members can use the facilitiesprovided, for free in order to sale and supply their contentto others.
    •  Technical issues regarding presenting informationresources as standard Lack of access to integrated resources Lack of consensus of manufacturers, content owners andresources Cultural issues and challenges for the content ofindividual organizations were major reasons to integratecollections for easy access, and appropriate context andcreate required technical standards and infrastructure.
    • Nationwide Creation of a standard environment Production and accessibility for content knowledge tocompete in the evolving knowledge-based world Launching of a platform for Islamic content Ability to create standardized cataloging practices oncontent with national standards for access
    • Content owners Protection of Content owner identity Increasing number of users Access to other valuable content in compliance with thestated conditions Having a variety of content Increase the amount of available information
    •  Users and researchers Easy access to massive amounts of information at anytime and from any location Access to a variety of content (books, articles,manuscripts, photographs, documents, and othercontent) in the form of audio, image, text, video and otherevolving media Integrated and comprehensive search feature in a networkof linked data to reduce the cost of access to content
    •  Create a platform for researchers to have access tonational content, especially Persian content Ability to provide easy access to all kinds of information Encourage the preservation of digital resources Retain ownership of the material and content owners Global awareness of valuable national resources Appropriate technical and cultural context Content owners consent National standards for the use or presentation of digitalcontent and services Dissemination of national content globally
    •  The Consortium is not comprised of content producers,but to achieve its goal, it seeks to get involved withcontent owners. It seeks appropriation of technical and culturalrequirements to collect, convert, organize and protectdigital data at a national level to provide the best possiblepractice. For material and intellectual property issues, theConsortium seeks to insure that each content ownermember would retain individual identity/ownership.

    •  Creation of a National Content Consortium of digitalrepository could be of immense help to facilitate access tothe nation’s heritage resources globally, Preserve and develop the nations digital resources, andencourage sharing and exchange of information amonglibraries, archives, museums and heritage organizationsin Iran. The programme would avoid duplication of efforts indigitization, develop metadata standards, and ensuresustainability of the nations resources.
