Hue is located in Thua Thien prefecture and is in the central part of Vietnam, 660 km from Ha Noi and1080 km from Saigon. Hue became the name of Vietnams most well known ancient capital because ofthe local mispronunciation of the word Hoá in Thuân Hoá. Here remains many historical buildings as acapital of the Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945). Inside the city are the Royal Citadel, Flag Tower, RoyalPalace, and Royal Tombs. Hue’s Forbidden Purple City was once reserved for the royal family; it wasseverely damaged during the War. Outside the city is the religious site known as Nam Giao Hill, orHeaven’s Altar.We will take the flight to Hue in the morning for full day tour. Our visiting sites includes Old ImperialCity, Flag Tower, Thien Mu Pagoda, Royal Tomb of Khai Dinh. Our exciting day ends with romanticcruise on the Perfume River with Royal music on boat.Overnight at hotel, Hue.Day 6: Hue – Hoi An (B/L)Hoi An was originally a Cham port town, but has been influenced down the centuries by a myriad oftraders from various cultures. There is a distinctly Chinese appearance with pagodas and assemblyhalls scattered along the small streets. Hoi An was once a bustling port in centuries gone by, beforethe river silted up.We travel by private vehicle from Hue to Da Nang - Journey south along Highway 1 past the Hai VanPass and Lang Co. We will visit Cham Museum, Marble Mountain. Upon arrival in Hoi An, an ancienttrading center, we have lunch.In the afternoon, we have a half day tour to see a historic house, the Japanese Covered Bridge, aChinese assembly hall. We enjoy a free afternoon to make the most of delightful Hoi An and itssurrounding areas. The market is a good place to buy silk that can be made up into fine garments, allwithin a day. Close to town is the Cua Dai beach, which can be reached easily by bicycle, is an idealplace to swim and relax.Overnight at Hotel, Hoi An.Day 7: Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh City (B/L)Ho Chi Minh City was the capital of the French colony of Cochinchina and later of the independentstate of South Vietnam from 1954 to 1975. Since then, the city merged with the surrounding provinceof Gia Định and was officially renamed Hồ Chí Minh City. This is the largest city in Vietnam and thenations economic capital. The metropolitan area Hồ Chí Minh City and surrounding towns, ispopulated by more than 9 million.We take a short city tour to the Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum and Notre DameCathedral. You will also admire the many beautiful French colonial buildings such as the main postoffice and the former Hotel de Ville (city hall). If time permits, we will visit the bustling Cho LonMarket (Chinatown). This trip helps you view the city from another perspective and to see theabundance of fresh local produce that is such an important feature of Vietnamese cuisine.Overnight at Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City.Day 8: Ho Chi Minh - Cu Chi tunnels - departure (B/L)Today we will visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, an extensive underground network (approximately 200kilometers) of tunnels dug initially by the Viet Minh and later expanded by the Viet Cong. The tunnelscontained hospitals, plus accommodation and schools, and were used extensively for refuge andstorage and also utilized as a military base for the Viet Cong close to Saigon.
