    • 3. 3 FunctionsFunctions :- • Speech. • Mastication. • Esthetics. • Keep the defective area clean. • Reshape and reconstruct the palatal contour. • Reduces the flow of exudates into the mouth.

    • 5. 5 Variants :- • Inflatable obturator bulb. • Magnets between bulb & denture. • Hollow silicone obturator bulb. • Rigid hollow bulb obturator.

    • 7. 7 STEP :- 1 •Patient examination and preparation for impression making.
    • 8. 8 STEP :- 2 •Sectional impression of dentulous side. •Compound impression on the defect side. •Final impression.
    • 9. 9 STEP :-3 •Master cast is poured. •Jaw relation record established. •Teeth setting is done.
    • 10. 10 STEP :-4 •Waxing-up is done
    • 11. 11 •STEP :- 5 •The waxed up denture is flasked
    • 12. 12 STEP :- 6 •Dewaxnig is carried out.
    • 13. 13 STEP :- 7 •Undercuts are blocked with wax.
    • 14. 14 STEP :- 8 •A layer of auto-polymerizing resin is added
    • 15. 15 STEP :-9 •Flask is closed & wait till polymerization is completed
    • 16. 16 STEP :- 10 •After polymerization dewax it.
    • 17. 17 STEP :- 11 •Shim is taken out and trimmed.
    • 18. 18 STEP :- 12 •The hard shim is embedded in the final packing. •Regular curing cycle is followed.
    • 19. 19 STEP :- 13 •The obturator is retrieved. •The roof is cut.
    • 20. 20 STEP :- 14 •The obturator is finished, trimmed and placed in the mouth
