  13. 13.  Lymphangiomas are benign , hamartomatous lesions of lymphatic vessels  Represent the developmental malformations that arise from sequestration of the lymphatic tissue  About 50% of all lesions are noted at birth and around 90% develop by 2 years of age  Lymphangiomas have a marked predilection for the head and neck region, which accounts for 75% of all cases www.indiandentalacademy.com

  15. 15. CLINICAL FEATURES  50% of all lesions are noted at birth, and 90% develop by 2 years of age  Occurs almost equal in both sexes, with a slight male predominance www.indiandentalacademy.com
  16. 16.  50-75% of all cases occur in head and neck region  Oral lymphangiomas most commonly occur in anterior two thirds of tongue ,followed by buccal mucosa  Cervical lymphangiomas are most common in posterior triangle  Anterior triangle and grow large, they cause dysphagia and respiratory difficulties www.indiandentalacademy.com
