5. Mechanics

The CTA’s basic mechanism for force delivery is a ‘V’ bend which
lies just anterior to the molar brackets. It is calibrated to deliver
approximately 40 – 60 gms of force.
Incisor intrusion requires about 50 gms of force directed apically
along the centre of resistance.
