    • In the early twentieth century:
      • People often came together to form voluntary associations
      • Tight knit groups helped shape civil society
    • Recently, social trends and new technologies have weakened social ties
    • CollaboraTV can help increase “Social Capital”
      • Support collaboration between friends
      • Enhance community cohesion
      • Encourage richer communication
  • People like to Communicate 37  million  hours  on mobile Facebook in Dec 2009. That’s 45% of the mobile data traffic that month. #1 application, a far second at 8% was Google. - GSM Association analysis > 775,000,000 txts DAILY! 50,000,000 tweets DAILY!
  • Television
    • But, television is often a solitary activity, made especially so with the advent of the DVR
  • CTV Plot
    • CTV is a prototype service that enables viewers to interact and participate in recorded show, whether watching simultaneously (synchronous) or at different times (asynchronous)
    • Text, sketch, gestures and audio annotations are temporally attached to a video and conveyed via avatars that represent the virtual audience
