The Model for Vocational and Technical Education <ul><li>The model for vocational and technical education is: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>flexib le , </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>corresponding to the general reform process of the Romanian education system , </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>able to contribute to the increase of the mobility of work , </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>an open system which allows a high degree of adaptability of the specialized stuff to the technical and technological evolution ; </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>deeply connected to the Romanian and European cultural values . </li></ul></ul>

The formal system of education and training in Romania <ul><li>The formal system of education and training is based on a new Law of education (no.1/2011) including a compulsory education of 10 grades (including the 9 th grade). </li></ul><ul><li>In the actual transition period, until starting the implementation of the new law, the compulsory education has 10 grades (including the 10 th grade, containing a basic technological training of 2 years, as part of compulsory education). </li></ul>

The system modernization <ul><li>Ha s as MAJOR OBJECTIVE the development of the consolidated education and training system in order: </li></ul><ul><li>To respond to the needs of a knowledge based society </li></ul><ul><li>To increase the employment rate and economic development </li></ul><ul><li>To increase the economic and social cohesion level </li></ul><ul><li>To develop democratic citizenship practice </li></ul>

Education and training supply is facilitating <ul><li>Career develoment (progressive pathway with no dead ends) </li></ul><ul><li>Lifelong learning through multiple exits and entrances, based on prior learning acquisitions (not yet operational the recognition of achievements from non formal and informal contexts) </li></ul><ul><li>Lifelong learning due to its organization based on the NQF (under construction) - TVET is design ed as part of a training package : job readiness means adding on- the- job training </li></ul><ul><li>Double qualification opportunities , academic and professional recognition- upper secondary TVET graduates passing accademic examination ( baccalaureate ) entitle to continue studies through tertiary university education </li></ul>
