  • 1. RECOVERY HOW? Presented by I M Confident Niagara Canada Created by Brenda Silveira November 2010 www.imconfident.com
  • 2. REACH OUT….. …..to others. Help them when they are in need of a helping hand or a friend to talk to. Reach out to others when you need a helping hand or a friend to talk to. Just REACH OUT!
  • 3. EXPECT TO…. ….. Go forward two steps, then fall back one step. Life happens. Things change every day and it will be hard to keep going. At the end of each day, write down a goal that you want to reach tomorrow. Just do the best you can and keep going.
  • 4. CONTACT… Groups that understand Organizations that help Clubs to enjoy social events Old friends to catch up
  • 5. OPEN…. …..your heart and your mind. Let yourself listen without judgment. Try to find the truth in what is said. Are you listening? What do you hear?
  • 6. VALUE…. …..each and every day of your life. Never be so busy that you don’t have time to spend even a few minutes each day with family and friends. Life is too short to wait. Take the opportunity while it is still there.
  • 7. ENCOURAGE……. …..others on the road to recovery. It is so much easier to do things when you have support from another person. Show understanding, love and compassion.
  • 8. REVIEW…… ……your progress daily. What goals did you set for yourself? Did you accomplish them? What are your goals for tomorrow? Make sure you give yourself a pat on the back for doing a great job.
  • 9. YOU….. …..have fallen, and yes, you can get up! You are important You are valued You are strong You can succeed All you have to do is stay positive and do the best you can in any situation.
  • 10. In review…… Reach out Expect to go back and forth Contact groups Open your heart and mind Value each day Encourage others Review your progress You can get up! This spells RECOVERY.
