T imeline <ul><li>1921: The Chinese Communist Party was formed in Shanghi. The CCP joined the National Party because they are more experienced. The leader of the NP welcomed the CCP so they can oppose the warlords, and make the imperialists powers of China leave the country. </li></ul><ul><li>1928: Chaing Kai Shek founds new Chinese republic at Nanjing. They worked during the next three years, he worked to reunify China. He thought Japan was a threat but the communists were like a disease to the heart towards the Chinese. That’s what made the Chinese think the Japanese less dangerous. </li></ul><ul><li>1934: Mao’s troops begin long mach. Mao’s army, Peoples Liberation Army PLA, was able ,however , to break through the national lines. It then began its famous long march .they traveled six thousand miles to reach the last surviving communist in northern China. His troops had to fight all the way there. </li></ul>

A pril 1 927 S hanghai M assacre <ul><li>Chiang Kai-Shek pretended to support the alliance with the communist. But then in April 1927 he struck against the communists & their supporters. He killed thousands of them and it was called the Shanghai Massacre… </li></ul>
T he L ong M arch 1 934 <ul><li>Mao Zedong had an army of the communist that were left. They broke through the Nationalist lines. That is when they started the long March. They traveled almost 6,000 miles just to reach the last communist base. Many people starved or frozen. </li></ul>
N ationalists A nd C ommunist F ought T o R ule C hina <ul><li>The nationalists and communist formed an alliance. But then both parties had problems with each other…. </li></ul>
