  2. 2. 2.0 Isn’t So New Anymore <ul><li>Interactive technologies & features are now ubiquitous and expected </li></ul><ul><li>Libraries and librarians need cohesive web presences to network with each other as well as the public </li></ul>
  3. 3. Will They Come? <ul><li>Advertise web presences </li></ul><ul><ul><li>On Website with badges, widgets </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Offer a choice of tools </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Users will spread the word </li></ul>

Librarians Make Libraries <ul><li>Promote the librarians in the libraries, not just the stuff </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Link librarians’ social presences to the library’s </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Show librarians, or their avatars, on things like blogs, etc., especially for teens </li></ul></ul>
  5. 5. Make It A Two-Way Street <ul><li>Let users get interactive </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Online library card registration </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Place to share their opinions </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Encourage sharing of identities, on social sites like MySpace, Facebook, etc. </li></ul></ul>

Get Further Out There <ul><li>Create podcasts & videocasts, post them to sites besides library’s website </li></ul><ul><ul><li>YouTube --Yahoo podcast </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Google video --podcast.net </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Bliptv --podcast alley </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Blinkx --singingfish </li></ul></ul>

  10. 10. JOIN THE CONVERSATION <ul><li>This is the main point of everything at IL2008, and Web2.0 in general </li></ul><ul><li>Don’t ask, “Why would I do that?” … Just join the conversation </li></ul><ul><li>We’ll keep up in the 2.0 world, and bring better services to our public </li></ul>
