E very college/university has to design moderate curricula in order to strengthen graduates’ employability as well as increase the employment rate after being trained job-relevant knowledge and technical skills.

Motivation and Background

Statement of the Problems
College graduates are now more than ever required to have a full complement of related knowledge and skills to become successful workers and citizens.
( Shivpuri & Kim , 2004)
? Graduates use just a small percentage of what they learn in college on the job.

Statement of the Problems Business executives think that a significant proportion of recent college graduates do not have the requisite skills and knowledge. (Peter D. Hart Research Associates, Inc., 2008)

Purposes of the Study 1 2 -t o investigate whether there are any differences between the perceptions from employers and faculty of importance on the general skills, professional skills, employability, and common knowledge - to explore whether the graduates’ skills learned from the Department of Applied Foreign Languages meet employers ’ demands

Purposes of the Study 3 - to explore the employability that the graduates possess from the Department of Applied Foreign Languages and whether they apply their general skills, professional skills, employability, and common knowledge in the work place sufficiently

The content of the curriculum has a great bearing on career choice and graduate’s abilities in meeting future employment challenges .

A ssessment needs to be seen as an important and indispensable part of ascertaining whether students’ perceptions and experiences match the purpose of higher education for enhancing the develop of graduate attributes.

Employability skills include basic skills , higher order skills , problem solving, decision making, affective skills , traits , a positive attitude, interpersonal skills , self-discipline , self-management , and ability to work without supervision.

Employers’ Perceptions
E mployers expected students to possess transferable skills included communication, analysis, design, evaluation, ethics, project and process management skills as well as a understanding of professional development.

Participants Curriculum committee members, professors, and the department head of Department of Applied Foreign Languages at CYUT Fifty-seven employers who hire the employees graduated from Department of Applied Foreign Languages at CYUT 283 graduates obtained a bachelor degree from 2005 to 2007

Participant Follow-up e-mails every week The graduates will be inquired about their employment and company information by e-mail. The questionnaire will be collected and analyzed. The name list of graduates provided by the Department of Applied Foreign Languages of CYUT. The questionnaire will be sent to the employers or managers. The unemployment graduates will be asked about basic information.
