What is the Texas STaR Chart? The Texas STAR Chart was developed by the Texas Education Agency Educational Technology Advisory Committee , as an online resource tool for self-assessment of your campus’ and district’s efforts to integrate technology across the curriculum. It is aligned with the Texas Long Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020. Its rubric serves as the standard for assessing technology preparedness in Texas K-12 schools. Why is the Texas Campus STAR Chartimportant? The Texas Campus STaR Chart is a tool designed for use in technology planning, budgeting for resources, and evaluation of progress in local technology projects. It is required for all applications for state funded technology grants. It is used as an indicator of current status and progress and as a formative and/or summative evaluation tool. It is used to report on progress toward fulfilling the requirements of NCLB, Title II, Part D. What is the purpose of the TexasCampus STaR chart? To produce a profile of the campus’ status toward reaching the goals of the Long Range Plan for Technology (LRPT) and No Child Left Behind. The produced profile indicators will place campuses at one of four levels of progress in each key areas of the LRPT:  Early Tech  Developing Tech  Advanced Tech  Target Tec Source: TEA Texas Star Chart

Where do we go from here? Improvements in the areas of Educator Preparations & Development and Leadership, Administration, & Instructional Support are essential. Provide adequate access to information technology (IT). Provide ongoing professional development for IT systems. Provide instructional support services to ensure full integration of technology into the curriculum. Maximize educational benefits form the investment in technology.
