  2. 2. What is Author Rank?Author Rank is a quality score or online reputation measured by the quality ofcontent that an author has published. Information about the author is pulled fromyour Google+ profile and displayed next to your article in the SERPs.
  3. 3. How does Author Rank Affect the SERPs?Even though today there is no direct impact on the websites performance in theSearch engines, authorship of an article can be leveraged to affect the clickthrough rate which can improve the overall traffic to the site.
  4. 4. Step 1 – Create a Google + account Dont forget to add a profile image
  5. 5. Step 2: Add Contributor links to your Google+ profile.1. In your Google + Profile click edit profile2. In your Google+ Profile at the bottom of the page you will see "Contributor to"
  6. 6. Step 2: Add Contributor links to your Google+ profile.3. Click on "Contributor to" and the box will open up4. Add the title of the website or blog site5. Add the link to the page. Be sure it is formatted with the http://www.
  7. 7. Step 3: Insert link into Header of the Website1. Take of note of your Google+ ID which appear in your browser.2. In your websites backend insert the following link into the <head> section of the article page. <a rel="author“ href="https://plus.google.com/117123115692055665601"/> *The highlighted in red section is where you insert your Google+ profile ID
  8. 8. Step 4: Confirm It’s WorkingThe next step is to confirm it’s working. Inorder to do that use the rich snippettesting tool. After you type in your URLGoogle will tell you if the authorshipmark-up code is working or not.It should look like this: Make sure the profile shows the “Verified” status
  9. 9. Step 4: WaitThe next step is to wait. It can take 2-3 weeks or sometimes even longer for your profile pictureto show up in the search results. Please note that the picture may not always appear next to thesearch results in all searches.
