      Phroni is a Web-based encyclopedia.
      Phroni augments Wikipedia using mashups.
      Phroni recognizes the meaning of the keyword and chooses relevant mashups.
      Users can obtain information that is fresher and covers a wider range than Wikipedia.
    • Architecture
      Phroni builds the page when the user accesses it.
      Phroni creates the page by the following three steps:
      Recognizing the meaning of the keyword
      Executing relevant mashups
      Gathering the mashup results
    • Recognizing the meaning
      Phroni recognizes the meaning of the keyword by using a proprietary taxonomy.
      We associated each major Wikipedia category to our taxonomy using a system named Ousia Taxonomy Builder.
      Currently, the taxonomy consists of 165 categories.
      The taxonomy contains 1,806,077 keywords and covers almost 55% of the total number of Wikipedia keywords.

      We developed a number of mashups and associated them with each of the categories of our taxonomy.
      All mashups are created using our original mashup editor called “Ousia Weaver”.
      We created a simple system which helps associate mashups to our taxonomy.
      Most of keywords have more than 5 relevant mashups.

      Phroni is a novel, Web-based encyclopedia service which augments Wikipedia using relevant mashups.
      Phroni enables users to explore relevant content from the entire Web in addition to the Wikipedia content.
      Phroni recognizes the meaning of the keyword using a proprietary taxonomy and automatically chooses and executes relevant mashups.
