How to edit windows registry offline
Here shows how to edit your windows registry offline (it means that you do not need to start
your windows and you can make change on your windows.). Editing registry offline, you can do
some operation you cannot do on your windows, such as disabling a program or a virus boot up
with the windows, adding your program to boot up list so it can start up when windows starts, or
resetting forgotten password for administrator account.
Please follow the steps below:
Step 1: Download and install Windows AIK. Download link: Microsoft Windows Aik.
Step 2: Make a Windows 7 PE boot disk. For more detail, see How to create a windows 7 pe boot
Step 3: Burn the Windows 7 PE image to USB flash drive or CD/DVD disk. You can use Asunsoft
Finalbooster to burn the Windows 7 PE ISO image to the USB flash drive or CD/DVD disc.
Step 4: Insert Windows 7 PE boot disk to computer, set your computer to boot from USB drive or
CD/DVD drive, and boot your computer from the Windows 7 PE boot disk.
Step 5: When a commend windows appears, you can type in: x:windowsregedit.exe, and press
Enter to run it.
Step 6: Load Windows registry to regedit program:
6.1 On registry edit program, choose HEK_LOCAL_MACHINE node to load the windows registry.
6.2 choose File -> Load Hive.
6.3 Choose SOFTWARE file on WINDOWSsystem32config foler.
6.4 Give the new node a name mysystem
