The smart school initiative is one of the flagship application that are part of Malaysia’s Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) project. The Government of Malaysia aim’s to capitalise on the presence of leading-edge technology and the rapid development of the MSC’s infrastructure to jump start deployment of enabling technologies to school. This was done by creating a group of 90 pilot Smart School in 1999 that will serve as the nucleus for the eventual nation-wide rollout of Smart School teaching concept and material, skill, and technologies. • The cons of the smart school are students are not ready to change their role from passive knowledge to self-directed learner. They also do not have an enough opportunities to develop their critical thinking skill. Some educators and administration may not be prepared or able to meet these expectations.
