This work consist of three major research efforts that describe a methodology of analysis for pattern of distinction for the knowledge generation system that operates in the DII (Industrial Engeneering Department) of Bío-Bío University and as we shall see, a is developed in a complex organizational and institutional conection network of public and prívate character (national and international) that makes circulate various resources, from guidance on the changes, human resources, material, even knowledge needs. With this in mind, it was necesary to investigate what we think are the main lines of analysis obtained from the General Systems Theory, Social Sciences and the Cognitive Sciencies, which were avaible in the study. Along with establishing a path for these discutssions, descriptions were developed of some of the major institutions of the National Innovation System and also of the tertiary education. Finally, it provides an analysis of the data avaible from the University and the data obtained in surveys, to develop a model of analysis of the major transforming forces within d¡the University, in order to know how these efforts are established in DII-UBB and wath are subsystems affected. From the standpoint os knowledge products, along with assessing the demand for knowledge of institutional change, establishing patterns of generation of these products over the past 10 years, are discovered parameters, relational carácter and introducing a series o recommendations on now to enhance this capacity organizationally.
